355 bhp, 365 cu. in. OHV V-8 engine, four-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, coil spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic power drum brakes.The 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham is the rarest and most expensiveof all Cadillacs.
Built in 1957 and 1958 with only 400 built in '57 and 304 built in '58. It cost a staggering $13,600 in 1958 which would be almost $380,000 in today's money. All were hand built and GM reportedly lost $10,000 on very one it sold. The changes in 1958 included cast aluminium wheels and a 10HP increase in power via its unique 3 two barrel carburetor set up.
These cars were truly for the rich and famous only.All cars came with magnetized steel drink tumblers, a gold plated cigarette case, a space in the glove box for loose cigarettes, a lady's compact, leather backed mirror, a notepad with silver Cross pen and even an atomizer that contained an ounce of Arpege perfume.
This is a three owner California car with California Black Plates. Although though we have no documentation, according to the 91 year old seller, this car was bought new by famed gangster Mickey Cohen, then sold to 50's actor/muscleman Reg Lewis (pictured here with the car), then gifted to the wife of current seller, also an actor/body builder, Ed Fury.
The car had been sitting in Ed Fury's home for the past twenty years. It was reportedly running fine when parked but no attempt has been made or will be made to start it.The body is super straight and shows no evidence of any repair. We ran a paint meter and shows consistent readings on all panels.Assume that it will need all the normal prep for a car that has been sitting this long. The car is strictly being sold as-is. It rolls and steers. We have clean California title in hand and Non-Op registration status.
