Description

This 1985 Cadillac Eldorado is an original, unrestored survivor in amazing condition.
It was bought new by Leonard Patterson from John Bays Cadillac on June 12, 1985.
Leonard bought the Eldorado when he retired as a gift to himself for years of hard work.
He only drove the car occasionally and never in inclement weather. He always diligently
maintained it and considered it his baby. When Leonard passed away, his son Gary inherited
the Cadillac. Gary kept the car for sentimental reasons and drove it infrequently.
I always liked these cars because they have a classy iconic look and this one especially so
finished in Commodore Blue and accented with the white Cabriolet top and pin stripes.
This is one of the colors used in the Commemorative Editions. This Eldorado is equipped
with most options: Leather; Dual Power Seats with Power Recliner; Tilt/Tele Wheel;
Twilight Sentinel and Auto Dimmer; Symphony Sound Radio; Power Mirrors; Auto
Dimming Rear View Mirror, Opera Lamps, Etc. All options work except for the power
antenna (which was unplugged in the up position) and the cruise control. The amber
light comes on with the cruise switch but the green engagement light doesn't come on
when the set button is pushed in. Usually this is caused by dirty contacts from non-use.
Other than that everything works. The AC blows cold (it was converted to 134) and the
power windows and locks and other accessories all work as they should. The Cadillac drives
tight and tracks straight. It also has a new feel to it. The doors and hood shut easily and all
the switches and knobs feel crisp all of which attest to it's gentle past. The car is original with
the exception of the rear bumper fillers which were replaced because of cracking. The front
fillers are still original and in good shape. The rest of the car is the way she came except for
normal maintenance items. The exhaust was replaced from the catalytic converter back due
to condensation. The tires are older Michelin X radials which have no dry rot and are still in
great shape. As nice as this Eldorado is it still has some flaws. The paint is original and being
lacquer there is checking on the top surfaces. It is not the large "crowfeet" checks but the
smaller finer ones that create a somewhat fuzzy reflection. However, as you can see from the
pictures, it still looks very nice. Also, as you would expect from 33 year old car, there are some
minor chips, dings and scratches but the car presents itself very well and I get compliments on
it whenever i take it out. The interior is beautiful as is the chrome and brightwork. It is a car
that you can be proud of. 1985 was the last year for the "classic style" Eldorados. They had
some refinements and mechanical improvements for this year as well. Nice examples are
becoming harder and harder to find and they are becoming more collectible and appreciating
in value. This is an extremely nice, garaged, original, low mile, rust free example that would
make a nice addition to any collection while still being something you can take out and enjoy.
This Cadillac has always been cared for and I hope that the new owner will continue that
tradition. I would also like to mention that although I have done my best to accurately
describe the Cadillac, it is, of course, sold as is without a warranty.Thank you for looking!
