1959 Seville
Description
Hard to find SevilleWas told purchased from original owners son, but was unable to get verification from last titled owner.Shows less than 40,000 miles, but since speedo/cruise cable had been disconnected, actual mileage unknown. The interior condition does indicate low mileage. She was born white with blue vinyl top and blue all leather seats. Best I can tell, interior is 100 % factory, even the carpet which needs cleaning.Story goes, in late 60's engine fire required repaint. Fifty year old + paint needs redone. The original top was dyed white then, and still looks almost new with a trace of the original blue showing around the edge.At the time of repaint, another 390 was installed, maybe from a 1960? oil filter on bottom. The original engine and tri-power long gone, along with the air ride. Was told all the glass, exterior trim, including the hubcaps are original to this car. Drivers door glass operates, but is cracked, and one of the rollers needs repair. The Eldo trim is exceptional, the rockers are almost perfect, but not quite. Has been stored and owned in mild climates. Leather, and window rubber still soft and pliable.Power door locks, 3 out of 4 windows, trunk pull down work. Speedo works, but cable off because head needs lube. Before my purchase, car sat for the better part of 40 years, then 1st owners son got her on the road for awhile, then sold her in 2017-ish.I have owned since July 2018.
Have done my best to refresh items that became "stiff" from all her resting before me.I pulled complete rear end assm, cleaned painted, rebuilt as needed. All items painted blue, indicate I've been there.
I just put a new set of wide whites on 9-15-2019.
Since spring this year;new, bolt in brake booster and master cylinder, (saved the old assm)re-did rear brakesfuel tank / sending unitelectric fuel pump, new line tank to carbrear wheel bearingsrear coil springsrear ball jointrear shockslarge trailing arm bushingsall 3 u-jointsflush trans and new pan gasket
I also have included with purchase, a custom fit, new in box, aluminum 3-row radiator with dual electric fans. Also have new water pump ready to install, nothing wrong with the old one, just wanted to replace it when Iswapped in the aluminumradiator.
I have done all that my pocket and skill set will allow. My goal was never a show car but a reliable weekend cruiser. She was heavily undercoated back in the day, which might have been a good thing then, but now, not so much. I did find one floor brace under rear pass side rusted from trapped moisture, but the remainder of the underside looks solid no weakness. Surface rust on frame beneath undercoating.Inner rockers look good, but I won't remove outer rocker trim to check under them.
I did remove the "dead" weight from under the hood. AC components, cruise control, washer bottle, tri-power vacuum can, etc. All these items packed in crates and goes with, of course.
The original bumpers need a refresh. Rear bumper ends look great as is, but rear center surface has flaws. Front clams and center sections have flaws.Price includes older re-plated rear bumper center, front bumper clams, center, and license frame.
I could go on for hours, but you know these cars, and I prefer you come and see for yourself, rather than rely on my assessment. I tend to be overcritical.
She starts, drives and stops good.
