When selecting the most elegant, and also the most extravagant, car produced in American auto manufacturing, judges would have to agree that the 1959 Cadillac had it won out of the gate! Even Cadillac themselves branded the cars in their brochures as the "The New Standard of the World!" With the first true restyling since 1950, their largest Fleetwood bodied Series 75's would wear the long roofline and huge rear tail fins handsomely! Just 710 of these gorgeous cars would be produced, making them exceptionally sought after for collectors the world over!
We couldn't be more excited to offer this 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood Series Seven-Five 9-Passenger Sedan finished in factory code correct 10- Ebony Black over code 80- Light Gray wool broadcloth & Light Gray Nylon Beford Cord interior! This sensational example hails from Chesterfield, MO were it survives with just 41,295 miles accumulated on the odometer! It remains wonderfully solid and arrived to our showroom virtually all original! It sold new to local owner of a meat distribution company at the age or 76 as his personal, chauffer driven vehicle. Being disabled, he preferred the large rear cabin space with wide opening rear doors to easier entry and exit during short trips around town. Receiving minimal use, this rare Cadillac would pass down to his 33 year old grandson in March 1967. Records provided show he maintained this Cadillac very well and used it slightly more regularly than his grandfather through the 1980's. It would garaged in the late 1990's to rest, and would stay with him until our acquisition in December 2012.
We elected to commission a complete cosmetic & mechanical restoration of the car to improve the condition of the original paint, and interior upholstery. Both had unfortunately feel victim to time and age. The body would be stripped of its original paint, professionally prepped, and repainted by Butch Wyrich in June 2013. The very special interior fabric materials would be sourced by SMS Auto Fabrics in Canby, Oregon. The entire interior from a rebuilt dash pad by Just Dashes in Van Nuys, CA to a full headliner, all floor carpeting & binding, decorative windlace, and all door & seating surfaces would be recovered by hand using the original material as templates. The absolutely gorgeous results you see today are a quite rewarding end to a project that proved to take nearly a year to complete!
The engine would receive new valve cover gaskets, carburetor overhaul, all new fluids & filters, drive belts, new power steering hoses, thermostat & gasket, oil pressure switch, spark plugs & wire set, new battery, battery tray, and hold down, fresh battery cables, and complete exhaust system with mufflers & resonators. The entire air conditioning system was fully overhauled with all necessary equipment by Auto Air Inc! This included new evaporator & expansion valve, rebuilt compressor, compressor manifold, hoses & fittings, and adaptors for an R134a conversion. The fuel tank would be removed, boiled, and resealed by Al's South County Radiator and fitted with a new sending unit and fuel filter. The Hydramatic transmission was fully rebuilt with new torque convertor by Bob's Transmission.
This Fleetwood carried Body Style-6723 with body #332 of the 710 produced making it one of very few cars made, and likely one of a limited number that survive today! It was interesting to find a privately owned example like this one that was spared a life of commercial use as many were intended. Since new, it had always been kept dry and protected in a garage. Included with the sale of this vehicle will be service records and gas station receipts dating back to 1967, including some old Eagle gas stamps! Our restoration and maintenance records will be provided as well.
Direct from the Cadillac Brochure, "Only from the great traditions of Cadillac could there come a motor car as surprisingly fine as that portrayed in the 1959 Cadillac. Luxurious beyond description, it offers spectacular performance and handling ease. Every known motoring advancement makes each journey memorable!" With an MRSP nearly 4 times of the average automobile of the same production year, and half the cost of the average house, most of these cars found their way to the corporate elite and fortunate! Today, these elegant full-sized luxury Cadillacs remain highly prized among astute collectors. We would invite questions or opportunities to view this magnificent Cadillac in person! We look forward to earning your business!
