Description

1954 Cadillac Coupe deVille

You're looking at an extremely well-preserved example of the first of an era; the 1954 Cadillac Coupe deVille was the first of the lower, sleeker American luxury giants. This national award winning car isn't a show car in the traditional sense and can be driven daily if you so desire (I drive it regularly). It received two awards at the 2018 Grand National Cadillac Lasalle Club show -- 2nd Place in primary judging and The Past Presidents' Preservation Award. It's made cross-country trips without a single issue -- once from Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Austin, Texas in one pull stopping only for gas. I've done my best to represent the car in the below sections (and in pictures), but don't hesitate in calling/texting if you need additional info or pictures: 512.653.0773

Mechanical

This car runs and drives extremely well, even by today's standards. The engine and drivetrain are quiet and smooth with everything in place exactly as it was when it left the factory. All decals on the air cleaner, oil filter canister, and power steering reservoir are original (painted on). Hood blanket is original as are the blower motor ducts (just try to find another car with those fragile items still intact). All mechanical aspects of the car function well (from the power brakes to the vacuum windshield wipers). Recent maintenance includes serviced front wheel bearings, new tires, new fuel pump, valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket, transmission filter clean-out (it's a brass screen), engine and transmission fluid changes, and new u-joints. Cruises easily down the highway with no vibrations or weird noises.

Exterior

At almost 66 years old, this car has aged better than most any vehicle of the era that I've ever seen (at least, of those vehicles that are actually driven). The factory Iris paint is largely original and though it has thin spots and various scratches, it really does look as good as it does in the pictures. There are various touch-ups that have been done (the roof was repainted the original grey at some point in its history), but the car is one of the more original examples in existence. (Note: If you're looking for a perfectly shiny, flaw-free exterior, this is not the car for you; this is an award-winning preservation car. Rear bumper ends are original (and solid) and other chrome and stainless shows well for being original.

Interior

The 100% original interior has faired well, but does have visible wear/thin spots on the front driver and passenger side of the seat (see pictures). The seats are still soft and comfortable, and I've chosen to keep them original rather than redo the fabric. Headliner is 100% intact and looks great with a couple of stains from the bows (see pictures). Carpet is great shape and only has limited wear near the pedals. The steering wheel is one of the nicest examples I've seen -- not a crack or a separation to be found. Dash pad and door panels are in excellent shape with almost zero wear. Clock is slow and the radio currently has a blown tube (an extra radio is included). Power windows are quick and the crank open vents work as they should. All ventilation and heating controls are easy to operate and work as they should. Doors open and close with ease and the window flippers work exactly as they should with the windows up or down.

I've owned this car for five years since the 38,000 mile mark (now at 48,700 miles) and am more than happy provide more pictures or videos upon request: 512.653.0773
