MotoeXotica is thrilled to offer this stunning freshly nut and bolt restored 1956 Cadillac Series 62 Black Restomod Coupe. With its prominent Dagmar front bumper, tail fins and sinister black paint, it cuts a memorable figure wherever it goes. The current owner and a friend completed a nearly frame-off restoration in 2014. The owner’s friend used to work for a car collector locally here in Missouri, and he had experience restoring models from one of America’s premier pre-World War II makes, Duesenbergs. The Duesy restoration experience really makes its presence with the extreme high quality of the restoration making this Cadillac coming home with multiple awards.

Under the large domed hood is a neck snapping (yes, even in this heavy Cadillac body) 454 CID V-8 big block engine, provided by Hovis Racing Engines in St. Peters, Missouri. It features upgraded HO headers, custom 3″ exhaust and an Edelbrock chromed air cleaner atop a Holley carburetor, an electrically-operated radiator fan and dual horns, among many other upgrades. Backing up the V-8 is a Turbo Hydramatic 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission that was beefed-up to handle the engine’s output. Also upgraded with new quick ratio steering box for easy driving this big body Caddy.

Outside, the car is simply stunning. The deep and rich black paint, with its clearcoat finish, is mirror-like and all of the impossible to find exterior chrome bits glisten. The rear window is the original E-Z-Eye glass from the factory; all of the other window glass has been replaced with correct glass. Its prominent Dagmar front bumper is in excellent shape and is all the grill pieces and bullets. Out back, there are correct finned taillamps and a gold Cadillac script and V are prominently displayed on the trunk lid. Overall the car still retains a lot of its original sheet metal and appears all very straight with nice gaping. The black Cadillac looks extremely stylish with its original Cadillac hubcaps and steel wheels mounted within Coker Classic 235/75R15 radial wide whitewall tires.

Inside, the car features white leather with black seats, Dynamat sound insulation from the firewall to the rear seat and into the trunk floor. The vinyl dashboard is original while the center console is customized to the car and features ancillary gauges at the forward end, under the dash. The original dash cluster and other details are mostly original and in excellent condition and really retain a classic original feel to this big block restomod. Driver assist options include power steering, power brakes (fronts have been converted to discs), power windows and six-way power seats. The rear has an electric power lift down trunk and as highly desired with all black Cadillacs, this one comes equipped with Classic Air A/C, complete with R-134a refrigerant and blows cold.

This big finned Cadillac is finished with many concealed modern touches under its black skin, including an amplifier and subwoofer for the aftermarket stereo, a rotary dimmer switch for the dash lights and an interior release for the trunk, both located near the driver’s right knee.

The current owner said he bought the car in 2009 from a friend of his father’s who lived in Hannibal, Missouri. His father’s friend bought it in 1972 and kept it properly stored. The car is included with over $70,000+ in restoration receipts and a copy of the owner’s manual and a shop manual for the engine and body. Also the original numbers matching engine and transmission are included with the purchase of the car.

Examples of this car’s competition in 1956 included the Lincoln Premiere Coupe, the Chrysler New Yorker Newport Coupe, the Packard 400 Coupe and the Lincoln Continental.

Car has 4,686 miles on it and is sold as is with a clear and mileage exempt title.
