When we purchased this car in 2006 it had an ACTUAL MILEAGE Arizona titlewith just over 48,200 miles.

Original MSRP: 13,500
When I purchased this car in early 2006 for $60,000 from the widow of the 2nd owner in Arizona,I really didn't know a lot about the 1957/1958 Cadillac Eldorado Broughams. Over the next3 years, I would get a VERY expensive education.
I knew that these cars cost more than the average home owned by middle class America atthe time of production ($13,500) and had learned that it cost Cadillac a whopping $25,000 tobuild each one....but Cadillac and Harley Earl wanted to show the world that Cadillac couldbuild a luxury car like no other auto maker in the world...and that they did.
From an incredible stainless steel roof to a trunk that opened and closed with buttonslocated inside the glove box....this was one amazing car....light years ahead of anythingmade in the world!
It is the ONLY car ever that Cadillac introduced to the world as a dream concept car of the futurethat went into production a year later in the Fall of 1956 as the 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham.Cadillac introduced this car to the world at the 1955 Fall Motorama show in New York.I was visiting the big Apple at the time with my parentsand as luck would have it, we werestaying at the Astor Hotel .After much coaxing, we wentto the GM Motorama show. WOW!
Cadillac produced 400 Broughams in 1957 and just 304 in 1958. I guess that was all the money they feltlike losing but they established themselves as the "Standard to the World" A slogan that rang true formany years...remember those great Cadillac commercials when a beautiful Lady stepped outof a Cadillac in a gorgeous evening gown and her handsome Beau in a Tuxedo opens the door and she smiles and says..."Best of all...it's a Cadillac!"
Cadillacs were considered so prestigious, that even owning a used Cadillac was seen as a sign that"you have arrived" Do you remember this 1957 Cadillac Commercial about buying a used Cadillac?
So who could afford these
Cadillacs in 1957 & 1958?
The Rich and Famous of course!
The list of owners looks like it was taken right out of "Whose Who"
Cadillac gave one to our President at the time...Dwight David Eisenhower.
A few of the wealthy and famous were Bob Hope, Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin Bing Crosby,Mickey Finn, Elizabeth Taylor and lots of Hollywood's top motion picture directors and producers.
According to the woman I purchased this car from, she recalls her husband buying this car from Cecil B. DeMille.I don't believe that adds anything that increases it's value but it further demonstrates you had to be very wealthy in 1957/1958 to spend$13,50, plus tax and freight for an automobile that wasn't even a convertible.
We immediately began to disassemble this car and it wasn't long until I discovered that this would become one ofthe most expensive cars I have ever restored. Mike Rizzuto of Mastermind, Inc. is a great guy and over the next 3years we spent $1000's and $1000's of dollars buying parts from Mike. He is probably the most knowledgeable guy livingon the 57 & 58 Eldorado Broughams.
We purchased a sand/bead blasting machine just to do the frame and undercarriage on this car.We had two guys work cleaning the undercarriage every day, 6 days a week for a solid month.
Westopped keeping track of the hours spent when we passed 3000 hours. I won't bore you with everything we didand how much we spent but to mention just a few things...The interior leather was imported from Italy, the Mouton from France, the chrome plating exceeded $22,000, the engine was meticulously rebuilt by the best engine builder in Ft. Lauderdale and by thetime we finished in 2008, the total tab including buying the car for $60,000 was nearly $250,000!
I drove the car a couple hundred miles and in late 2009, it ended up as part of the spectacular Cars Of Dreams Museum Collection.
In 2011 this car was sold to a Gentleman in Virginia who I have become good friends with. Roger is without question a "Class Act"Like myself, Roger is a perfectionist and he spent an additional $30,000 on this car with the largest expense the complete rebuildingof this Cadillac's remarkable 4/speed Automatic transmission...unique back in 1957/1958.
It is now part of another "Class Act" Gentleman and car collector who has an extensive Ferrari collection. Since I know this particularvehicle so well, he contacted me and asked that I find a new deserving home for this magnificent piece of rare mechanical art and functionexample of a milestone car built by Cadillac when Cadillac was "King of the hill" in the automotive world.

COUTTS INDEX REVEALS CLASSIC CARS AS TOP PERFORMING PASSION INVESTMENT DURING 2014- Classic cars* rise 40% in 2014 and up nearly four fold since 2005
- 2015 out performed 2014 and 2016 so far is outpacing 2015
- Watches show biggest drop during 2014
- Stamps and coins, only assets to increase over nine consecutive years
- Coins continue to rise, up 176% over nine years and up 9% in 2014
Classic cars increased in value by 40% during 2014, and have increased in value nearly four fold, since 2005, according to the latest edition of the Coutts Index. In its second year, the report shows that while passion investments have increased just 0.8% during 2014, this masks the diversity of returns of the various underlying categories which have increased overall by 80% (local currency terms) since 2005.The Index aims to provide the global benchmark for monitoring the performance of passion assets. Developed in conjunction with Fathom Consulting, the Coutts Index captures the price return in local currency (net of the holding costs) of 14 passion assets across two broad categories: trophy property and alternative investments. Alternative investments can be further broken down into fine art, collectibles and precious items. The Coutts Index also incorporates a real estate component supplied by Savills World Research and fine art prices from Mei Moses®.Highlights from this year’s results include:
- Collectibles– coins have appreciated every year, up 176% since 2005. By contrast, Fine Wine was the only Collectable to see prices fall in 2014, down more than 9% in the third consecutive year of contraction after rapid price growth in 2006-07
- Fine Art– of all the Fine Art categories, Traditional Chinese Art has seen the greatest overall price growth since 2005, more than doubling over the period. However, this was the only art category to fall in 2014 with prices contracting 13%.
- Precious Items– 2014 was not a strong year for Jewellery or Watches with price growth for the former dropping from more than 14% in 2013 to under 2% in 2014. The average price of watches contracted by more than 17% last year, undoing some of the progress made since the recession.
- Property– despite some of the headlines regarding London’s super-prime real estate market, 2014 was actually an unremarkable year for Trophy Properties – divided into residential properties (luxury properties in ten prime global city locations) and leisure properties (in the world’s most desirable leisure destinations), with the former virtually unchanged and the latter falling by 2%. This is against a backdrop of double digit increases before the 2008 financial crisis.
Mohammad Kamal Syed, Head of Financial Advice and Investment Solutions at Coutts, said: “At a time of paltry interest rates, we continue to see lots of interest from the wealthy in finding somewhere worthwhile and out of the ordinary to put their money. Passion assets maintain their appeal, indeed the majority of passion assets we’ve tracked have risen over the past 12 months.Table below shows increases (%) for each asset class tracked across various timescales
