Description

Up for auction is my 1980 Cadillac Superior Crown hearse. Family illness forces this sale. I've owned the hearse for a couple of years and have always wanted to to get it repainted as this coach was originally black. It's definitely not the best repaint you'll ever see, but the coach is very presentable as is. This would be a very easy restoration as this is a southern car. Originally it was at the Karnes Funeral Home in Nashville, TN. I bought it from CW Coach in Cincinnati. The coach is in excellent mechanical shape and can be driven home. The interior is in excellent shape as well featuring sort of a "Houndstooth" pattern in the cloth. This follows through the entire car with the seats, door panels, and rear compartment. It has the big 368 Cadillac big block engine and the heavy duty transmission. It is originally one of the Commercial Chassis that Cadillac made for hearses and ambulances. Runs and shifts great. The power windows work however, none of the lights on the inside of the vehicle work. The dash lights work but no the overhead or door lamps. I didn't get that far to see what is going on there. And yes, that is the original mileage on the car with not quite 44,500 miles. 44363 today. Very low for a vehicle this old. The starter doesn't engage every once in a great while, but just try it again and it will start. That's the only thing mechanically wrong with the vehicle. I suppose it may need a starter at some point but up to now it's been fine. I have Cragar SS wheels on it with Firestone tires that have less than 500 miles on them. I do have another set of tires with white walls and also have the original Cadillac hubcaps which will also be included. I've had the belts replaced and the air conditioner was just upgraded to the new coolant. Heat is hot, and air is cold. I also have the original steering wheel but it is not in the best of shape. There are new air shocks in the rear of the car. As with any vehicle this age, its not perfect. There are a couple of areas that need attention. They are pictured and are right behind the rear side doors. It shouldn't be too difficult of a repair but you'll have to pull the trim panels and pull the vinyl back as well in order to get at it. When they make these bodies they must use quite a bit of filler. I'd have to assume that the windshield most likely leaks a bit (as all the other coaches I've owned has). I didn't drive the car in the rain but I'd have to think it would leak a bit. The Superior Crown emblems that go on the ends of the landau bars were not there when I purchased the coach. Please ask any questions that you may have. Buyer will be responsible for transporting the coach, or if you live somewhat close we can work out meeting up and you can drive her home. Depends where you are located. Again, a family illness mandates that I sell the coach. I really hate to see it go and I'm hoping she will go to a good home and to someone who appreciates these old coaches. It's a fairly rare model in great shape so please don't tear it up. Thanks for looking and bidding on a fine 1980 Superior Crown Hearse.
