Up for auction is a BEAUTIFUL 1979 Chevy C-10 Silverado 1/2 ton pickup.
Originally an East Tennessee truck, this truck has not seen a corrosive environment and is almost entirely rust free.
I did speak with the original owner on the phone 9 years ago. He was 85 years old at the time. The truck was bought with the intention of commuting to work, and he was issued a work van soon after purchasing the truck. It sat garaged with seldom light use. He did have it repainted with original colors in the late 1990s due to cat scratches, etc.
In 2006 the truck had 69,000 original miles when sold. The second owner had a business in commercial air fresheners, and used the truck to deliver his product around the Nashville, TN region. There was a Truxedo cover on itand the bed smelled like roses--literally.
My wife and I are the 3rd owners. We purchased the truck 2/2/2008, with right at 100,000 original miles. Owning this gem is a great pleasure, but it no longer fits into the goals we have for our family's future.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------142,300 original milesOriginal 350 V8 w/Holly 4Bbl (have the quadajet to go with it)Original 350 trans, rebuilt with shift kit 10 yrs/50,000 miles agoOriginal factory interior-velour bench seat, carpet, panels, & dash pad.All sheet metal and trim is factory originalwith the exception of front inner fenders and lower windshield channel.Paint is a 8/10 in my book, done in the late 1990s. I'm up front--There aresome things that are not up to my standards, and they are:
-The engine is all original, never touched. I recommend a rebuild. If you watch the video, you will hear a knock, and yes that is the motor. I give you my word, though, it has never sounded any different, and has never let me down. I have always had a goal to rebuild the engine just out of curiosity but I never did. 9 years and 43,000 miles later, I've never had a problem. You may want to rebuild it; your choice. But it's strong and tight--no smoke, and it will pull, and I drive it anywhere.
-Exhaust leak on driver side.
-THE A/C is out. Was converted to 134a in 2006, but compressor went bad.
-Tires are good tread, but starting to weather crack.
-Truck has character. Up close, there are some scratches and dings. (Front passenger side bumper)
-it does leak fluids a bit and needs gaskets on the engine and transmission.
-Only rust I can find is on the one cab support (see photos)------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------REPAIRS/UPDATES
I have done many things to keep this truck in TOP SHAPE.
-shocks (air shocks in rear)-ball joints-tie rod ends & idler arm-rotors-front wheel bearings-front brake calipers & pads-front brake line (passenger)-master cylinder-4 core radiator-water pump, all hoses, and 180* thermostat-distributor cap & rotor-wiper motor-new wiper blades this week.-spark plugs & wires-a/c blower motor-dimmer switch-taillight housings, lenses, and bulbs-heater core & heater hoses-rebuilt Delco AM/FM Cassette w/ AUX input (cassette no longer functions)-dual voice coil speaker in dash-rear speakers (brand new) for stereo sound w/factory housings-comfort tilt steering-variable speed wiper control-new dash clock--and yes it works!-replaced rear end seal and fluid-transmission rebuild with shift kit (10 years/50,000 miles ago)-Line-X Color matchBedliner-hood insulation-battery-alternator-rebuilt holly carb (i still have the original rochester if you want it)-fuel pump-fuel tank sending unit-fuel hoses-driver door hinge pins-door striker bolts-driver window crank mechanism-weatherstripping on windows and doors, with the exception of the rear window gasket-newer inner fenders done right, with quality undercoating andunderhood black paint.-lowerwindshield channel rust eliminated (redone right with epoxy primer and proper drainage)-new windshield, new gasket-installed factory rear slider-new spare tire-newer chrome mirrors (original tripod mirrors were damaged in storm)-there's more but I can't think of it.

I have tried my best to preserve a real classic, with true factoryoriginality. You are not buying something that has sat so long and needs tons of work. A lot of the preservation has been done.It is something you can enjoy as is, or drop in a new powertrain and have pretty much a brand new truck. Runs, drives, and stops great.
Thanks for looking, PLEASE ask questions before bidding. I will do my best to answer.and I will edit this if need be as we go along.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
