1965 Chevrolet C10fleet side, short bed Custom Cab truck. I am a fan of REAL patina and I must say this is a prime example of "perfect patina" to me. You can tell this truck was used (but not abused) as a truck in its glory days and you cannot beat the classic light blue / white paint scheme. The wood in the bed appears to be original and is cool and complete. Original glass is all there and none is broken.
I bought this truck a while back after seeing it sitting ina back yard. When I stopped and asked about it the guytold me he had been driving it on a regular basis, but it quit running one day so he parked it. When I got it back to the house I discovered the gas tank was badly rusted and that had clogged up the whole fuel system. I wound up having to install a new gas tank, sending unit and fuel pump. Once all that was done it fired right up. Also newly installed are lowering springs, drop spindles and brand new 20" Torque Thrust II chrome wheels and tires (10" rear / 8" front). They are close in the rear, but have never scrubbed.I never got around to putting insurance on it so I only drove it around the block and to town a few times, but ithas run well for me. The 3.8 V6 looks like it came in the truck from the factory and seems to be in great shape. Cranks right up and does not smoke. Thematching automatic transmission, power steering and power disc brakes all work well. I have not had the front end aligned since the suspension was updated so that will need to be done.
As far as rust goes this is one of the best trucks I have ever seen in this year range. The pics show that is does have a little rust in the rockers next to the door sill plates. The drivers side has a little and the passenger side has very little.A little rust in the floor on the drivers side(I have included pics of the top side and bottom of that). The cab corners are solid. Cab mounts are solid. Overall there is not nearly enough rust anywhereto requireand real attention. It is a very solid 51 year old truck!!!!!!!
This is a local truck. It was originally purchased in Greenville, SC. I knowbecause after looking through the truck I was pleasantly surprised to find its original manual and Protect-O-Plate manual. Also was a second bill of sale from1973 in Anderson SC along with some other documentation. I do have theclear SC title as well.
Quick YouTube video of it cranking and running:
