1937 Chevy Coupe Race Car - Pro Street
Description
1937 Chevy coupe originally built this car to run the fastest street car series and the Nostalgia drags .I went to Jim Cook performance Motorsports in Ontario California where we ordered a set of Art Morrison frame rails with independent front suspension. Jim set the frame rails up on his chassis. Jig and installed his own custom Top Gun 4-link rear end setup along with his fabricated 9-inch Ford rear end housing. Jim is no stranger to building High horsepower high-end cars his twin turbo charged 1200 horsepower Pontiac on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine along countless other cars he has done showed me he was the man to go to. I wanted something totally safe and capable of running into the sevens if I wanted to. with the look of a real hot rod. I was building the car as a Highboy no fenders front or back the engine in the open the body was taken to customs by Moose in Whittier California there he did the Bodywork and installed a bitchin firewall for inset back and a bitchin products dashboard the car is all metal if you'd read the picture if you can see the body work done the firewall is smooth for that clean finish look a a mock-up 1071 supercharged big block Chevy engine was installed and mounted with a turbo 400 transmission. The car was then taken to bassani Manufacturing or a custom set of the exhaust was made. they go along the engine block under the car and exit with two three inch exhaust tips per side out of 20 inch stainless steel mufflers. The car went to Griffin radiators after that word radiator that could support a thousand to 1200 horsepower was put in place. The car has a metal Grill a Billet steering column teardrop tail lights not installed and more I just can't think of right now I'm in this car three times of what I'm asking for it I'll take $16,000 as it sits feel free to call me for more information car is sold with a bill of sale only. 714 793 7514 Rick. To answer some of the questions I've been being asked over and over the car was completely assembled never ran and then taken apart to be painted after the car and left performance Motorsports it went to Steens chassis and Design in Long Beach California Gary Steen the owner is known for his six second Hondas and his finish work he mounted the dash install the gauges Mount of the Billet steering column Mount of the shifter installed a Kugel brake pedal power booster master cylinder combination underneath the dash to keep a clean firewall appearance the rear end currently have a Detroit Locker with 410 gears to be drivable on the street like I said the car was mocked up and taken apart. There has never been any gas in the tank or water in the radiator or brake fluid in the master cylinder and the exhaust is still clean and new.
