Description

1963 Chevrolet C-20 ¾ ton pickup. It was converted to propane in the early 80’s and has a 327 ci engine with a granny 4-speed. The propane tank is 125 gallons and just recently topped off. Vehicles are easily filled with propane at $1.40/gal or so. Little white door on driver's side covers the propane filler. The truck was in Wyoming up to 1999 then Mississippi until 2011…then southern Colorado. Had a repaint in the 80’s. It was always in a garage or carport until we got it in 2011 and has been well protected since then. It belonged to my father-in-law from the late 70’s until he gave it to his daughter (my wife) in 2011. She loves it but can’t drive it…that manual transmission thing.

Mechanically it is very solid. The 327 runs very clean on propane and is easy to maintain. I can’t make out the engine vin clearly so the block was probably decked when the engine was built. The heads are double hump w/o accessory holes. The odometer was reset to zero when the rebuilt motor was put in so there is 47k+ miles on this motor. The gas tank behind the seat was removed, but the engine could run on gas easily with the addition of a gas tank behind the rear axle or back behind the seat. (Will need a fuel pump and a carb, too, for folks not from the 60’s.) The bed was replaced with 5/4 oak a while back…no stain or finish was applied so it’s not hard to make really pretty. Wood is very solid.Livestock racks are easy to lift off, but take up less room on the truck than off. Some rusting has happened in the door sills, behind the front wheels, and the cab corners, maybe 2-3 inches up at most… easy to repair when repainting. The trailing arms on rear are showing rust. AC and cruise work probably...neither of those are stock. Exhaust system is solid with no leaks. Tires are Michelin 235-85 16’s. Tread is great (7/32 front and 13/32 rear), but tires are 20+ years old…the only reason I wouldn’t drive it across country. Truck has aheavyreceiver hitch (2 ¼ inch tube) with trailer equalizer sway control bars. Has a brake controller for a trailer. (The parents pulled a 25 ft RV). Truck also has a tow bar built in that is big enough for it’s size and that’s how it got transported from Wyoming to Mississippi and back. Stock brakes are very good condition, but are not power nor disc.Steering is original and as tight as it should be.
