We bought this 1951 Shortbox 1/2 ton chevy pick up truck from a farmer here in Iowa who used the truck as a driver around his small town of 1200 people for errands and just general short pleasure trips. Upon getting the truck back to our shop here in Waukon after we bought it, I was very impressed how the body was basically rust free and decided after going through the truck to put a fresh paint job on it. Watch the video and check out pics of the truck before and after prep for paint. We noticed the truck has a new aluminum radiator, new master cylinder with 2 new wheel cylinders in the front for the brakes (rears not hooked up) The original 6 volt system was bypassed and converted to a 12 volt. The headlights operate but all of the gauges have been bypassed. The truck fires up and starts with ease and as the video shows idles with no knocks or misses. I was impressed by how the 3 speed column shifted with ease as we did the video. After driving it around 25 miles or so, things I would do to it if I were to keep the truck to use for longer drives etc would be to clean out the gas tank or replace it ($150 approx. new), I would install a new 12 volt wire harness (LMC truck appox $210), I would install new rear brake wheel cylinders and shoes (approx $150), I would replace the exhaust to new exhaust (about $100 ) as the video shows, its not to loud or anything in my opinion, just old. I would replace all four tires (has some dry rot and flat spots but do hold air) with the investment of around a $1000 you could easily bring it to the next level or just leave it the way it is and drive it around town etc.. The doors all open and shut good and the windows go up and down good. It has a new wood kit in the box that looks really good!The vintage air colloer in the window,dash magnet, plates and plate toppers do not go with the sale of the truck as they are part of my personal collection. It has a clean Iowa title ready for you to register. I do not want to overcall this truck or undercall it, let the video and pics tell you the story. As everyone has their own opinion on what a vintage driver truck should be, I would recommend coming to check the truck out at my dealership Teddys auto sales in waukon iowa by appointment or hiring ebay to come and do a independent inspection for you before placing a bid. I require a 500 non refundable paypal deposit within 24 hours of auction end. If I do not get the deposit within the time frame or before you come for the truck, I will assume you are a dreamer or a scammer and not serious about buying it.
