Description

1971 GMC K2500~ Clean California heavy duty classic GMC~Dana 60 Rear, Dana 44 Front Axles~Strong original 350cid v8 motor~First year for Front Disc BrakesNO RESERVE AUCTION
It is no secret 67-72 Chevy/GMC trucks are seriously appreciating in value. Here is a 1971 GMC K2500 for sale on a NO RESERVE auction. This truck has been born and raised in the mild climate of Northern California being built at the former GM plant in Fremont,CA and spending its 46 year life in the greater San Francisco bay area. By the late 60s Chevy and GMC trucks were really just one in the same, GMC were priced higher and marketed to a more sophisticated customer while the Chevy was for the masses. One of the last vestiges of GMC independencecame in the form of a full floating Dana 60 rear axle with standard 4:10 gears, which was not availablein Chevys. 1971 was the first year of disc brakes in the front coming standard. This particular 1971 GMC came pretty well optioned and is as heavy duty as they come; options include 350 cid V8 (largest motor for a GMC), Factory A/C (a $400 option in 71), Heavy duty front and rear springs and shocks, Camper Special, Amp/Battery gauges, fancier interior and headliner and a TH350 Automatic. This truck has been repainted the factory Dark Blue and White using the original GM paint codes and a 2 stage paintjob. This GMC is a heavy duty 4x4 that's a timeless reminder of how real trucks used to be made. Classic trucks are all the craze and are becoming harder to find in decent condition ESSPECIALLY a 4x4. This truck is intendedto look how it did in 1971, without all the silly wheels, bumpers, lightbars and paint colors. Folks don't miss out on an opportunityto own a highly sought after classic 4 wheel drive truck. This is an end of a 5 year era of General Motors trucks which leads the classic truck market and will continue to go up in value as they grow older and harder to find.
Mechanically this truck is solid and heavy duty. The 350cid v8 runs good, some upgrades include a Edelbrock carburetor, headers and dual flowmaster exhaust. The original Th350 3 speed automatic transmission shifts good in all gears and reverse it has most likely been rebuilt at some point in the last 46 years. This truck still has the original full float Dana 60 rear axle and Dana 44 front axle as well as the stock NP205 transfer case. The front disc and rear drum brakes bring this truck to stop safely. This truck has been lifted about 4 inches and has Rancho shocks all the way around. The original 16.5 inch wheels have been mounted on 36 inch Goodyear Wrangler tires. The headlights work as well as the rear lights except the left light went out. The gauges all work except the fuel gauge does not and the temp gauge is periodic. The original AC has been removed but the heater and fans are functional. The original steering wheel has been replaced and is mounted funny in the steering column. The truck steers fine and has power steering. Overall this truck runs strong and drives like a 46 year old heavy duty straight axle 4x4.
Cosmetically this truck looks absolutelystunning. It has undergone a mild restoration with the idea of keeping it original. As mentioned before it has been repainted it's original Dark Blue with a White cab. Original GM paint codes with PPG paint was used in a 2 stage paintjob. The bed has bed has been sprayed with a tough Raptor liner to protect it. The interior has been kept its original style with new materials. The carpet is new, the seat has been reupholstered with factory colors and style. The door panels are new but kept every original detail down to the wood strip. Essentially it is a new interior looking the same as it did in 1971.
