Description

For sale- Real '55 gasser from New Mexico. This is the real deal with documented photos, history of original owner/driver, and race history. There is much to talk about with this car so it's probably best if you call and talk with my Dad over the phone if you're interested. Below is the dyno video of the motor which produces 555HP/ 508TQ.
The engine was professionally built at NVR race engines in WI. In addition to building race engines NVR has deep history with restoring Harley's, cars, tractors and more. They properly aged anything on this engine so it fit the age of the vehicle. AN fittings were all hand rubbed with steel wool, block was hand sanded, anything billet was hit with the sandblaster and so forth. Trans in a Muncie M21. Hurst vertigate shifter. Diff has moser axles and I believe 5.40 gear ratio. Front brakes were updated to speedway discs. New white headliner. Aluminum Howe radiator. New RJS belts. New in the bag Mickey Thompson drag slicks. One photo under the rear of the car will show some weighted bars sitting on top of the rear frame rails, these are original to the car so we left them. The spiral shocks are also original. This car spent a great majority of it's life as a racecar in New Mexico hence the lack of any rot or rust.
We had all intentions of racing this at the Meltdown Drags at our local strip in Byron, IL, but unfortunately life has gotten in the way. The only thing keeping this car from racing is a final nut and bolt inspection, maybe a front end alignment, and some test runs.weighted bars in the back spiral shocks
You are acquiring a piece of history with this car. Aside from a few necessities that we had to replace for safety regulations this car sits as it raced 47 years ago. There are plenty of replicas out there today, painted and built to look the part, this is not one of them.
Payment- You may leave a deposit via paypal, NDA, in person, or call with a credit card. The balance is due within five days. If this is a problem please call us and we'll see if we can work something out. If you'd like to come look at the car you are more than welcome to do so. We are located in Cortland, IL 60112
