Description

Please read this in it's entirety as I am listing this with full disclosure. Up for auction is this 1987 Chevy Silverado from Dale EarnhardtChevrolet. This is a low geared 3-spd manual with a granny gear. 350ci fuel injected motor, PS, PB, Dual exhaust. This truck sounds good and drives nice. I get a lot of compliments even when people are closer than the 20 foot paint job. This is the typical Chevyclear coat coming off in blisters. I have only been driving this on the weekends so have put less than 10 thousand miles since I bought it and slowly rehabbingit. I am now moving to MA and where the tires spin on wet pavement down here they are certainly going to spin up north in the ice and snow so I need somethingmore New England appropriate. All the gauges work, even the clock tho the little hand is missing. The undercarriage is in amazing rust free condition. There are presently no leaks. Some of the work that has been done:*New brakes all the way around*New power steering pump*New front shocks, recent rear shocks*Tune up (couldn'tget one plug out), replaced fuel filter*New heater core*New Alternator and battery*Replaced valve cover gasketsI have just started on the interior. Currently the dash is all torn out as can be seen in the photo. I should have it reinstalled by next weekend. I purchased a brand new black replacement dash as I thought the color would look cool offset againstthe red. The carpet has already been replaced. It is in desperate need of a headliner.Tires have decent tread left on them. Trailer hitch looks like a bumper hitch but it is actually a factory frame hitch. I have the "Chevrolet" piecethat goes on the tailgate. Here is the bad:*Burns almost a qt of oil between oil changes....normal actually*There is a small dingus in the windshieldas can be seen in the photo, this has been like this since I bought it and has not spidered.*This is true dual exhaust but you can really only feel the exhaust pushing out one pipe, the pipes look like they were a home install job, one muffler had a dent in it creating a gap and a leak. I hammered back in place as best as I could and tried some exhaust weld on it...eh, worked for a little while but not perfect repair. I figured I would just do new exhaust once I built up the motor*Drivers side mirror is broken as seen in photo but works just fine.* Seat ripped bad on drivers side. Have a brand new horse blanket seat cover for this model*Truck had factory AC, compressor was seized and a piece of the mounting hardware missing so I removedthe whole system under the hood. I still have it all and it is included loose as is the original air cleaner assembly and steering wheelThe clutch will need some attention, it works just fine and truck shifts well but there is a whirringsound when at idle, push in the clutch and it goes away. I was told it was a throw out bearing. I have been driving it like this for over a year.*Even tho it is fuel injected it starts like a carburerated motor and idles high until warm.I am strongly guessing it was once involved in an accident. the left front fender is a different shade then the rest of the truck and the brake rotor was a different size than the right side. the lines are all good tho.*there are small dings here and there, the only real bad one is on the top right side of the bed as seen in the photo. * Here is the weird one I have not been able to figure out yet, the motor will occasional stall out usually when you clutch in to coast to a stop. It will start right back up and idle fine most times, others it will barely turn over as if the battery was dead. Within minutes it will restart with all the power of a freshly charged battery. I am no gear-headtho I am lookingfor the solution.*Trailer hitch wiring is hanging loose and looks a mess probably dies not work*Finally it is a 20' paint job, as you get closer you will start to see the imperfections, small dings, rust spot under the drivers door, rust on the inside of the jamb (not rot) chips in the paint in spots and the clear coat blistering off. It is all very manageable. The chrome and body trim is all in decent shape. I have brand new seals for the rear sliding window. Included in this auction is a 4 spd Saginaw manual transmission from a 1970s camaro that was sold to me in supposedly good working order.
I think I addressed everything, if I think of anything else I will add it. Im sorry some photos uploaded upside down or sideways, I cant figure out how to correct it. They are normal on my download.
In short, I would feel very confident jumping in this and driving it to MA without any hesitation. As a matter of fact if the winning bidder lives in New England this can be a local pick up by beginning of May as I will have relocated by then and will have driven it up. Be sure to email me with any questions. I tried to cover everything here that I could think of. I am happy to work with the winning bidder in shipping this or if you wish to drive it home we will pick you up at GSP airport. Happy Bidding.
