Description

1968 Impala SS Custom

Up for auction is my 1968 Impala SS Custom Coupe. This car is in overall very good condition and is going to be a great spring and summer cruiser for its next owner. This is an iconic ride that I have had the pleasure of owning and working on.Historically, Impala has been Chevrolet's premier sports sedan; this is one of the best years of Impala you can own. Please review my auction and all of the information I have provided. This car is 99% complete, turn key, and road ready for the spring. You can drive it home.

Engine & Drivetrain

This car is somewhat of a resto-mod, with classic looks, but also has had some subtle updates which I will layout in short time. The engine compartment in this vehicle is absolutely gorgeous. The engine has been upgraded to a fresh GM Goodwrench Crate 350 that runs flawlessly. It is very lightly cammed and gives off a nice light rumble without taking away from any drivability whatsoever. It has an Edelbrock 600cfm Carburetor and Long Tube Headers leading to a Dual Exhaust. Many of the accessories have been updated with chrome, including the oil pan, brake power booster, all the pulleys, valve covers, and air cleaner. It has a double walled Aluminum Radiator so you can drive cool all day. The transmission is a TH350 3 speed which shifts very well.I am not sure what the rear end ratio is but the car does ride very nice at 70 MPH and still has plenty of "get up and go" from a dead stop. Please review the video I posted below; you can see in the videos how well the car runs!

Interior

The interior on this vehicle is also in excellent condition and is a really nice place to spend time. The car has super comfortable front and rear leather bench seats. The dash overall is very nice, I'd say a 7 out of 10 in condition. The gauges seem to be all original and everything works as it should. It has that classic 60's impala look but with a couple of upgrades as well. The steering wheel was updated with a "Rosewood Style" wheel. It's a little thicker than an original rosewood, and a little smaller as well, but has a traditional look.Far more comfortable. The column mounted shifter was removed in favor of a floor mounted B&M Mega Shifter. It has an original Delco AM radio which works as well and can be seen in the video. The headliner is almost perfect, unfortunately a small quarter size hole formed right near the driver's side visor. It could more than likely be repaired rather than replaced. It has a heater box but unfortunately the blower motor failed. It was a project I was interested in doing this spring but, I have decided to sell the car.As such, the heater motor in the car doesn't currently operate, however it's as simple as installing a new blower motor.

The Body

The vehicle is an older restoration (approximately 10 years old).It was repainted a sharp bronze metallic.Although the paint work was done correctly with all of the emblems and trim removed, the bodywork was sub par in my opinion. The car looks great from 5 feet away, but the rest of the car is so well done at times the paint does detract from how magnificent this car could look with a better paint job. With that said, you could easily drive this car another 5 years and get thumbs up wherever you go; but the only way to do an iconic car like this the justice it deserves would be to repaint it.With that said, the body condition overall is "good" there are paint chips, cracks, and spider webbing. On the body itself there are some rust bubbles forming around the quarter panels and on the front fender, but THE CAR IS SOLID OVERALL.What the car lacks in paint it makes up in integrity. The floors on this car are solid as well as the truck pans, the frame on the car is very clean, no rust or rot at all, and the body is complete, not missing anything from what I can tell. The bottom line, with simply a quality paint job, this could be a real head turner.I have taken this into account and the car has been priced like wise.It is my hope that the next owner will pick up where I left off and complete it to the perfection I wanted to see it in.

Wheels Tires & Brakes

Last but not least the wheels tires and brakes are all in good condition. It has original discs in front and drums in the rear. They stop... as you'd expect a power assisted car from the 60's to stop.Pads in front look just about new.I am not sure what type of wheels we have on it, but they are chrome and lend themselves to the resto mod look. They are in overall "fair" condition and unfortunately have somepitting aschrome wheels tend to.They are wrapped in fairly new tires as well.I would estimate the tire tread to be between 50-60%.

As I mentioned before this is a car you could get in and enjoy this summer.I wish I didn't have to let her go, but I am downsizing the collection a little bit.I have set a fair reserve on this vehicle well under what most have sold for in the last six months. Please review the additional material I posted below. For those of you who have the patience to do so I encourage you to watch the video in its entirety as well.

If you are interested in viewing the vehicle in person you are welcome to contact me and do so PRIOR to the end of the auction. If you're the high bidder, you are the owner! All inspections done prior to the auction ending.I have included as much detailed information as I possibly can about this car, but please keep in mind this is a 49 year old car and many of the parts are original. I have done the best I can to represent the vehicle as well, but as objectively as possible.Again, if you require additional information please do not hesitate to contact me. High Bidder is responsible for all costs associated with any shipping required. I will gladly make myself available to the high bidder if the vehicle does need to be shipped, however ultimately it is the responsibility of the high bidder to make ALL arrangements.
