Description

Modern CLASSIC with LOW MILES!!!
This car has been in my family since it was brand new. My grandfather purchased it and put approximately 20,000 miles on it until he passed away in 1998. It was lightly driven by my uncle until permanent storage for over 15 years. In 2010, I took it out and carefully replaced and repaired all rubber, fuel pump, belts, carburetor, fluids, gaskets, heater core, radiator, etc to get it going again.
The interior is pretty much perfect . Seats (split bench) are excellent. Dash, door panels, carpeting are in great shape despite slight musty smell from being garaged for a whileOnly needs new sun-visors to match brand new headliner. I put in a grant steering wheel but still have original wheel (included). Window motors are original and work but are a little slow. Door rubber is in great shape.
This car has very minor rust in only a few very manageable spots (see pics). The car is solid underneath with only surface rust on suspension parts. Trunk is perfect. Doors are good w a little rust on bottom lip.
The bodywork needed before a well deserved re-spray is not difficult. The only major issue with the body is the passenger front fender which needs replacing. Neighbors wood pile fell on it during a storm while working on the garage and I roughly banged it back with filler until I could find one (I stopped looking). Drivers front fender has minor damage near bumper due to grandma swiping the side of the garage. Most chrome is good but needs a couple pieces on each side of the front bumper and one rear on drivers side which has a deep scratch. Top of car slightly pitted from storage and light dings due to old garage rafter falling on it. I started smoothing it out but needs to be finished. Driver mirror is replacement from another g-body due to same incident with grandma. Last time ever driven until 2010. Bodywork is a great project for someone to do themselves. I don't have room to do it.
The engine is great. No knocks or pings. Carburetor needs tweaking (I believe it runs a little lean) and some smog pieces removed during install of new exhaust causes longer warm up time. Also added new valve covers and chrome air cleaner lid along with plugs and wires, dist. cap., plugs, etc. I still have smog pump and tubes if you'd like.
Exhaust is set up so one can add a catalytic converter without chopping it. Basically it consists of Edelbrock headers (smog legal and fit perfectly) going into a full stainless system by Pypes. Mufflers are 3 chamber SS Magnaflow and are a bit loud but nice - car sounds like a loud 5.0 Mustang. I have chrome Pypes tips which I haven't put on figuring car should be painted first. System flows from headers into single wide oval pipe (for cat) then splits to a dual and out behind the rear wheels. Figured it was next best thing to "x" pipe while allowing for a cat. Didn't need to install cat in CT since they don't check but I wanted to leave option in case I moved to NY.
Wheels and tires are nice and wide (F-245, R-275) though could use a lower suspension set-up (it is original). Up to you. American Racing rims have pitted even though they are relatively new. Really pisses me off. Don't know if they can be re-furnished or are worth it. Looks good from 50' though for what that is worth! I do have newer Monroe shocks on car. Front suspension is tight and all original. Included are original wire wheel hubs and wheels with snow tires (good shape).
Front brakes done recently. Rear brakes need to be replaced as they just started squeaking TODAY! Of course!
I have tons of paperwork on the car including original owners manual, receipts for parts and service, and miscellaneous papers and instructions that end up in the glove compartment.
Wish I didn't have to sell as there is so much I'd love to do to the car but I'm moving soon and don't want to take her with me. Dreams included new engine and drivetrain, new suspension, manual transmission. You do it. This car is perfect and easy to work with and if you don't want to do much, it is perfect for that as well. I get more compliments with this car.
Also, if you are not serious about buying or want to play games with me (you know who you are), don't bother contacting me. I will show car on limited basis and will try to be as accommodating as possible. Test drives will only be allowed w/ me in the car. Buyer must arrange pick-up or hauling. May list elsewhere as well.
