Description

A factory triple-black 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 with four on the floor and plenty of documents... Can this get any better? Oh yeah, how about if this is a rare factory LS6-spec car with a screaming big block V8 under the hood.Envy is what you're feeling right now, but that's ok. The highly sought-after code 19 Tuxedo Black has been recently given a full professional respray that highlights the super straight factory panels, and gives the whole car a mirror shine like it was made of black chrome. So of course you're going to feel envious of the appearance, but the good news is this car is up for grabs, so this is your opportunity to create desire in everyone you pass. The black vinyl roof is a factory correct replacement, which was always one of the best ways to announce a highly optioned coupe. White SS stripes on a functional cowl induction hood and the hood pins are a big part of the appeal of the Super Sport model. But this one goes much further to get the details right, like the blacked-out grille, all the correct badging, and the correct SS wheels. Nice chrome bumpers and polished stainless fender trim help complete a package that looks ready for a weekend's worth of show winning. The black bucket seat interior has the same desirable mean and clean attitude as the exterior. The carpets, door panels, headliner, and seats all feel fresh thanks to an investment in making sure this interior was worthy of the triple black moniker. Everything looks correct, and even the upgraded AM/FM digital tuner has a knob-style setup to be period-correct for the dash housing. The result is 1970s time machine that feels like a great place to spend and Sunday afternoon. You hop in and your right hand is instantly attracted to the Hurst shifter in the center console. The optional U14 round gauge package includes very welcomed tach, and just below the dash are auxiliary readouts for oil, water, and power. It's a nice way to keep an eye on the motor, and a constant reminder there's a beast under the hood.Only around 3,500 Chevelles were built in 1970 with this top dog LS6 motor and the full control of a four-speed. So the included buildsheet already tells you this is a factory rarity and LS6 royalty. Today this one has an updated version of the big block that still carries all the correct appearance items like the big orange block, chrome valve covers, intake diaphragm sealing to the cowl induction hood, and 454 callout that boldly proclaims 450 horsepower (notoriously underrated in 1970.) But now this one has more enhancements like a Demon four-barrel carburetor and long tube headers. That means serious competition power, and a fierce sound out of the FlowMaster dual exhaust. Not only do you get to fully harness this power with the aforementioned manual gearbox, but also it reliably gets to the ground via a stout 12-bolt rear end. Even with all the force created by the enhanced version of the king of V8s, this Chevelle is far from a wild child. It has features like power steering, front disc brakes, and Firestone Firehawk tires to help keep this swiftly in line. Take some time to go over all the pictures, including the super clean undercarriage shots. Then talk with us about the restoration photos and receipts (and where to find the original matching numbers LS6 block and heads). You'll see a major investment in keeping this SS 454 original in the correct places on the build sheet, right down to the owner's manual. It's a turnkey intimidation machine that will find a new owner soon, so you might want to hurry up if it's going to be you.
