Description

When going classic Corvette shopping, the first thing you look for is originality. So you'll be happy to read that this 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray coupe that caught your eye with its beautiful paint is also a numbers-matching, four-speed car that has had a nice restoration that keeps factory specs inside and out.Ermine White is the perfect color for today's classic Corvette because the pristine paint is timeless. Only about 2,200 other cars got this hue from the factory in '65, and few likely look this good today. Of course, most have also not had the benefit of a frame on restoration like this one received. It not only means a nice luster to the paint, but also the panels have a cut-above quality and fit. This was the first year of the new style small block hood. It left the Corvette free from a lot of ornamentation, and the result is an elegantly restrained use of chrome for '60s standards. The sparing use of brightwork also means it's important that it looks especially nice in places like the rocker panels, windshield, and two-piece font and rear bumpers. It's hard to attract more attention in the interior of a white car than with a pristine black. This aggressively dark attitude looks great thanks to the carpets, door panels, and dashboard, all looking exceptionally clean. But as the driver, you'll really enjoy the well-maintained bucket seats. But to get a real idea of the meticulous care in this one, there has even been a lot invested in making sure the large speedo and tach are performing to exacting standards. That's sometimes overlooked because of the cost, but it's appreciated every time you fire this one up for a Sunday drive. Your left hand grabs the three-spoke wood rim sports steering wheel, and your right one gets a driver's favorite four-speed manual transmission. Plus, there's just something cool about grabbing the big chrome leaver housed in the original chrome console. Above that are the original heat/defrost controls and original AM/FM tuner (a new AM/FM/cassette stereo is also included in the sale.) Lift the hood, and you'll find a beautifully honest 327 cubic-inch V8. This is the Sting Ray's numbers-matching unit, and even the original carburetor was rebuilt recently. It looks just as fresh as the day it left the St. Louis factory 50 years ago, with features like the correct Chevy orange on the block, callout stickers, and a pie dish air cleaner adding a touch of chrome. On the road this motor has the right amount of snarl through the dual exhaust pipes as you row through all four forward speeds. It's the kind of sound that's perfect for a little Saturday night intimidation, but it never gets old when spending all-day Sunday driving the backroads. This great driving attitude is backed up by power steering and four-wheel disc brakes 1965 was the first year they were standard, and a big reason why these are the superior driving C2s. This is further enhanced by the reliability of good maintenance, including replacement of the brakes and clutch since restoration. There are even new modern Toyo tires on those iconic knock-off wheels. This one is a contender for NCRS Top Flight, and you even receive documentation like the original warranty card and owner's manual to show the judges. This is an investment-grade C2 softtop, but we know you'll love driving it too. Call today!!
