Description

For go-anywhere utility and rugged good looks, it's hard to beat the Chevy Blazer. This 1979 Chevrolet K5 Blazer 4x4 has an awesome look that still resonates today, a combination of ruggedness and sportiness that few other SUVs have been able to duplicate. It's also one of the most amazing survivors we've ever seen, with just 48,952 original miles and an extremely impressive level of preservation. The K5's proportions are almost perfect: compact enough to go almost anywhere, but with a square-jawed functionality that makes it a popular off-roading choice today. The glossy red paint job on this one is factory-applied enamel, and it's quite remarkable today, especially given how red is prone to fading. As with any vehicle of this vintage, there were a few bumps and bruises here and there, but you'll be hard pressed to find any evidence of previous sins on it today. Obviously someone really loved this truck. We'll admit that the white fiberglass top has been repainted and looks almost new, but the rest is just the way the factory did it nearly 40 years ago. Other noteworthy details include the bright trim, which is also in excellent condition, and the front grille that isn't chipped, cracked, or damaged in anyway. Have we mentioned how amazing this truck really is? The red vinyl bucket seat interior is also very much OEM and the craftsmanship is excellent. High-back buckets wear factory covers that are far more detailed than any of the reproduction stuff. The original door panels show some light wear and signs of age, but nothing major, and even the carpets seem to be amazingly well preserved. Completely free of UV damage or cracks, the dash pad itself is a testament to how beautifully preserved this truck really is. The gauges are bright and crisp, the brushed metal surrounds are in excellent condition and the center console offers a pair of useful cup holders as well as plenty of storage. Cold factory A/C is also part of the deal, along with things like power steering and brakes, and an automatic transmission with column shift. The original Am/FM radio still lives in the center of the dash and yes, that's the original 1979 Uniroyal spare tire living out back.Mechanically, the truck is ready to hit the trails thanks to its original, numbers-matching 350 cubic inch V8 under the hood. It's been nicely detailed and you can tell they went the extra mile to make it look very OEM, from the turquoise engine enamel to the exhaust manifolds that were removed, bead blasted, and clear-coated to look new. There's a new dual exhaust system that deviates slightly from the original spec, but we sure like the way it sounds and it definitely adds some attitude. The undercarriage has also been extensively detailed so it looks almost new, including the bright red floors and satin black chassis. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission powers the original 2-speed transfer case, which doles out power to the front and rear axles. Stock Rally wheels were original equipment and now carry big 33x12.50-15 white-letter radials that really fill the fenders properly. These trucks will never go out of style, and this might just be the best unrestored original truck we've ever seen. Take advantage of this opportunity, because survivors like this don't come around very often. Call today!
