Following up its 25th anniversary and redesign in 1978 with a record sales year in 1979, the Corvette continued down the evolutionary road for 1980 when this L82-equipped Corvette was sold at Horton Chevrolet, Inc. in Sibley, Iowa. This unrestored 1980 Corvette with just 6,158 miles on the odometer was the recipient of the National Corvette Restorers Society Chevrolet Bowtie 4 Star award in Corvette Preservation Excellence in 2001, the Top Flight Award in 2002 and was displayed at the National Corvette Museum in 2006. The time-capsule Corvette is offered with its build sheet, documentation and original warranty booklet. Under the hood is the optional and L82 350-cubic-inch V-8 rated for 230 horsepower at 5,200 RPM and 275 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 RPM with a single 4-barrel Rochester Quadrajet carburetor and factory dual exhaust. The year 1980 was the last with availability of the optional L82 V-8 and in this case the lid on the dual snorkel air cleaner is signed by then-chief engineer of Corvette, Dave McLellan. The engine is backed up by the 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission equipped with a lockup torque converter for more relaxed engine revolutions at highway speeds. This Corvette is one of 3,451 finished in Claret Maroon and features a matching Claret Maroon leather interior with personal luxury and sport appointments. America's sports car went on a diet for 1980 and lost 250 pounds thanks to lighter fiberglass and aluminum components. Glass T-Tops join power windows and air conditioning for flexible cabin environment while a tilt and telescoping steering column and bucket seats make for comfortable control. Entertainment is available from the console-mount AM/FM stereo. The time-capsule Corvette rides on optional and original aluminum wheels with factory-issue Goodyear raised white-letter radial tires.
