1955 Chevrolet Wagon, Chevy Big Block '70s Street Racer
Description
1955 Chevy Wagon
70's Big Block Street Racer
I got the car out today and cleaned it up. I took pics on level ground so you can see the slight rake it has. I figured I'd take some more pics to answer some of the questions. Hope these help.
This is a 1955 wagon I bought several years ago that had drum brakes and a small block in it. I wanted to build a '70s street racer like I wish I could have had back when I was a kid if I had had any money. Many of the parts I put on here are parts that I've had lying around from the 1980s, and many new parts I've bought. I drove it around for a while and wasn't happy with the car, so I pulled out the motor and transmission, rebuilt the rear end which is still the stock '55 Chevy rear end, put in 373 gears with PT unit, put 4-wheel discs on the car, and tubular A-frames with coil-overs. I had a good bit of big block stuff lying around so I built a big block, bought a new set of Sanderson headers that are made for these cars now. I had a set of cast iron, deep groove Corvette big block pulleys that I put on the car. It's got a Howard's Cam, a 700 R-4 transmission that I had completely rebuilt with all heavy-duty parts, 2200 stall with no lock-up because it's stronger. The motor and transmission have approximately 3500 miles on them. It's got vintage center line wheels; rears are 8½ inch, fronts are 7 inch. The car has no power steering or air conditioning, as that's something that you would never have had on a street racer -- that was just a waste of power. It has a brand new aluminum radiator and transmission cooler with new brake, fuel and transmission lines. I didn't skimp in any way. The paint is not the best in the world as it's been on there for about 4 years. Everything that was done was done as it should be {Right} no short cuts. It drives great and gets pretty decent gas mileage considering what it is. Fly in and drive it home.
Please view all the photos for condition and appearance as they are an important part of the description, and message me if you have questions not answered by the pictures.
If you have fewer than five feedbacks, message me before bidding or I will cancel your bid. Period.
I won't end it early in order to give everyone a chance to bid. And no, I won't take less. I enjoy driving this car way too much for that.
