Description

Up for sale is a 1976 chevy suburban, 1500, 2-wheel drive custom deluxe, the base model. This vehicle was ordered and purchased new in Marin County, located above San Francisco and has remained there since my purchase. Vehicle still retains original license plates and frame of dealership.

I purchased the vehicle from the 2nd owner who replaced the original engine with a factory Mr. Goodwrench 350 4V V-8 in 2012. The motor has approximately 17K miles. Also replaced were the radiator, hoses, spark plug wires, fuel-pump, master cylinder, power brake booster and dual-exhaust.In 2011, the carburetor, steering damper, engine motor mounts, throttle control-device and front/rear shocks all replaced. In 2016, new tires and battery were also changed.

This suburban runs excellent, shifts well and stops on a dime. Very solid and smooth going down the road. All gauges and lights work fine, but gas gauge will go empty at 1/4 of a tank. The interior is in great shape w/rubber mating, newly upholstered seats and complete dash. Door panels and headliner appear to be original. All glass is in excellent shape as well. Both bumpers are a little bent.

The CONS- The worse part of the rig is the body which needs work as you can see in the photos. The paint is the original Glenwood green and I basically sprayed clear coat to preserve the original patina look. The vehicle has mostly surface rust w/some minor rot at the bottom of the fenders (common) and at the front of the hood, very repairable if you choose. The undercarriage and engine compartment are all solid as are the floors and rear compartment. I also have a Yakima roof rack which goes with the vehicle. This vehicle was built without any catalytic converter, the federal model, but still retains the original smog pump and past Calif. smog back in March and will not need another smog test for 2 years if vehicle sells prior to June 15, 2017. This applies to Calif. residents only.

I have the original owners manual and receipts going back for many, many years. The only real drawback on the vehicle is when the motor was replaced, the A/C unit was removed. The vents are still in place if you choose original components or go after market with the vintage A/C set-up on the floor. The radio powers up but the tuner apparently isn't working.

The only reason I'm selling is I found a vehicle I've been looking for for over 10 years and if it doesn't sell, I'll park in the warehouse. I have placed a reasonable reserve price and ifsomeone bids with 15 or less feedback, you need to contact me or your bid will be retracted. Just trying to be fair and honest to the serious bidders.

I accept Paypal for a non-refundable deposit of $500.00 and must be received within 24 hours at the close of auction. balance can be made with cash in person, a cashier's check. Winning bidder is responsible for their own shipping or transport, or fly in and drive home. It is a very solid well driving unit.Any questions, please contact me and good luck bidding.
