Description
87 Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette #111 of just 184 produced. Rare & desirable Nassau Blue with blue leather. Power locks, performance axle, cruise, Bose, blue glass roof, and of course option B2K with 4+3 manual transmission. One of only 64 coupes ordered without rear window defogger. Window sticker, build sheet, and clean Carfax. All original 29,000 mile survivor. Clear TN title in my name. Fitted cover included.
Exterior:Cosmetically, the car presents very well. I have found no evidence of accidents and believe the paint to be all original, shines well as seen in pics with minimum imperfections. All lights, trim, and wheels are in great condition. No cracks in the glass roof. Tires are BFG replaced March '16 with less than 500 miles on them.
Interior:The interior is excellent. Original leather seats were re-dyed prior to my ownership. Carpets and door panels VG to excellent. Dash and console excellent, no cracks. Digital dash works as it should. Bose radio/speakers work with no issues. Callaway vacuum/boost gauge works. Cold A/C and hot heat. All electrical items (windows, locks, interior lights w/delay, power seat, mirrors, cruise, etc) work as they should. No VATS issues.
Mechanical:Car runs and drives beautifully, an absolute thrill ride above 2300 RPM and sounds like a jet! Idles smooth with no "hunting". No overheating, no surging at cruise, none of the common L98 issues. Transmission shifts are smooth and the OD works as it should. All original, no mods or "performance enhancements" of any kind.
The car had been a bit neglected when I purchased it and needed some sorting out:
- Many of the hoses in the intake-turbo-intercooler-throttle body loop were loose or detached, preventing full boost and causing a variety of idle & drivability problems...the loop is now 100% tight.
- Replaced serpentine belt (irritating project on a Callaway) with correct size
- Replaced fuel line to microfuelers
- New MAF and both MAF relays
- New ECM
- PROM reprogrammed to remove MAF burnoff code (otherwide stock)
- New Idle Air Controlharness connector
- New Throttle Position Sensor
- New O2 sensor
This car has investment potential. I believe it would judge well for a Bloomington or NCRS survivor award as it sits now. Reliable & comfortable enough to drive every day, but supercar fun when you call on the turbos. The documented Callaway cars are some of the rarest Corvettes ever produced. This has been a "bucket list" car for me and I enjoy it tremendously, but I have too many cars and it's time to let her move on to a new loving home.
Fine print: I have described the car accurately through words and pictures, but the is a 30-year-old car, and no warranties are expresses on implied.
