1964 Chevrolet El-Camino project
Description
Due to a loss of storage I am forced to sell my 1964 Chevrolet El-Camino. This is a very solid project car and all the hard work has been done. This is a factory V-8,air conditioned car. It was originally equipped with a 283 and a powerglide which are long gone. Presently there is a 1975 GMC truck 350 engine in it which has been rebuilt. It is a 4 bolt main engine. It currently has a 2 barrel manifold with a new 2 barrel Rochester carbuerator, and electronic ignition. The car has stock manifolds with dual exhaust which is good but needs to be buttoned up.The transmission is a rebuilt powerglide. Not sure if its an original or not. The radiator is a champion radiator with a flex fan. The engine runs flawlessly with plenty of power and runs cool. The transmission shifts like a powerglide. The front end seems to be all original and it is tight even at hi-way speeds. The rear is a 10 bolt open rear and it has airshocks which need new lines. The original A/C compressor is missing, all the dash components for the A/C are present although I don't know how they function. The condenser is present. I would assume the heater core leaks since it is bypassed. However included in this sale is a very nice serpentine belt setup which includes a new P/S pump, new A/C compressor, new balancer and pulleys. New chrome brackets, the idler and the belt. The brakes work well and all the lines have been changed. It has new shoes on all for corners. The power booster and master are new. The car stops well at hi-way speeds. If I were to keep the car I would replace the wiring harness as most components are currently dis connected and inoperative, however the original harness is all there,at least from what I can tell. The body is very solid. Please see all the photos. There are new floors welded in. The rockers are solid. The doors are solid. The manual windows and locks work as they should. The rest of the body is super solid. The compartment under the bed is solid. The quarters are solid, but the right quarter does appear the have had some below average, possibly amateur work done to it.The paint was done maybe 5 years or so ago and I think it would rub out well. The tailgate is rust free and I do have the interior panel and the attaching hardware. I do not have the handles.I have most if not all of the chrome trim, some new, which is included. The front seat is obviously not original. I do have most of the interior which is included but not yet installed, such as two new door panels. Two different carpets. One black, the other red. I do have two new headliners, one tan the other white. I have the under carpet mat. I have tons of new interior trim screws. I have a new ignition switch. I have most if not all of the handles which are original. There is no radio. In all I have tried to be very honest about the cars condition. Im sure I am missing something so please ask. Sometimes I don't respond right away but I will answer any questions that I can. The car is located in Staten Island,N.Y. and I do have a free and clear title for the car which does match the VIN tag. Again this is a Project car but one that can be used as soon as the wiring is sorted out, and be driven while replacing the missing. The car is being sold as is and the shipping will be the buyers responsibility. I will assist anyway I can within reason.Good Luck
