Description

I'm relisting this great '78 Vette because the winner of the last auction backed out on the purchase after he won.
This is a 1978 Chevrolet Corvette 25th Anniversary Edition -- a beautiful head turner that looks amazing on the road and runs absolutely fantastic! It has been picked to drive parade king and queens around, plus it was once the Car of the Month for October a few years ago on Vette Registry (before I added chrome wheels and new tires). I've had this Corvette for 5 years and haven't driven it but a few thousand miles. I have about $6,000 more in it than the very low reserve price, but I want to sell it because I'm planning to retire not long from now so I'm clearing out some toys. You're not going to find a better deal than this! It has just over 95,000 miles, which isn't much for a car that's getting close to celebrating its 40th birthday.
This T-Top beauty includes the original top covers; the tops are smoked gray. On top of that, I put brand new Hankook tires and chrome wheels on it a couple years ago -- less than 1,000 miles on them. I will also give the winning bidder a hard-to-find GM AM/8-track tape player that I bought and never installed. Further, the winner can have the four alloy wheels that I took off and replaced with the chrome wheels. Lastly, I have an uncut GM Vette key that I bought and didn't use. These extras are worth a few hundred bucks by themselves.
While the car is wonderful, there are a few issues that really don't matter much, but can be fixed if you're mechanically inclined. The clock does not work and a couple gauges don't work properly; the passenger door sticks and the passenger power window isn't working. These things didn't bother me so I didn't pursue correcting them. The car runs very smoothly and shifts great; handles nice; and has a lot of power, like an eight cylinder should. The ac works but I don't run it. I don't drive it in adverse weather and it is always in the garage away from harsh sun. I love the color the previous owner picked, which is why I bought it (at less than my reserve, by the way). There are a couple blemishes, but you gotta look close to find them. You shouldn't have to settle for the usual black, gray, red or white Vette that everyone else has; those are a dime a dozen, as you've probably noticed in other auctions. The interior is nice and the seats and doors have been updated. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at 270.577.2070 by phone or text. I'm willing to end the auction if someone makes an offer that I can't refuse.
Selling the Vette isn't so much about the money for me, but the space it will create once someone else takes it down the road. What you might consider me "losing" in terms of investment isn't a loss to me at all because I've enjoyed it and never owed money on it. But I'm not totally giving it away, either. Yes, this is one of those auctions where you're going to get the great deal you've always wanted -- a deal others will be compared to.
Please do not bid on this auction if you have no intentions of following through with the purchase -- been there, done that now.
