Description

1957 CHEVY NOMAD BEL AIR POWER PACK 283 4BBL POWERGLIDE AUTOMATIC
THIS IS A NUMBERS MATCHING CAR WITH THE ORIGINAL 283, INTAKE, CARB, TRANSMISSION, REAR END, AND EVEN THE ORIGINAL RADIATOR.ALL HAS BEEN RECENTLY COMPLETELY REBUILT.THE PAINT IS MOSTLY ORIGINAL, AND THE CAR HAS VERY LITTLE RUST.
The story with this car: This car was in a warehouse in western Pennsylvania for over 30 years, which explains the condition of the paint. From what i understand over 30 years ago the engine seized, and the car was parked in the warehouse.
My History with the car:I purchased this car a few years ago, and mechanically, and electrically rebuilt the entire car. I built this car to be driven, and i do drive it. I added Scallops, Pin-striping, and painted and Patina'd the dash. The car has been lowered in the front (lowering springs and spindles) and rear (lowered rear leaf springs). I added a brake booster and duel master cylinder, as well as converted the front drums to rotors. I upgraded the ignition system with new distributor and HEI, and went from a generator to alternator. I also upgraded the cooling system by converting the original radiator to 4 core. As you can tell, i did everything so this car can be a driven reliably, and safely.
  • Entirely rebuilt engine, Pistons, Heads, Camshaft, Oil Pump, HP Water Pump, ect.
  • Rebuilt Carburetor
  • Rebuilt Transmission
  • Rebuilt Rear End
  • New fuel system, includes New lines, New hoses, New fuel pump, New fuel tank, ect.
  • Rebuilt hydraulic brake system, New Wheel Cylinders, Shoes, New Drums, New Brake Lines, Added Booster, Added Duel Master Cylinder, Converted to front disc, ect.
  • Entirely Rebuilt Both the Front and Rear Suspension and Steering, including bushings, bearings, seals, tie rods, ect. Car is lowered with both front and rear springs, and lowered Spindles. I also welded a shock bar, which relocates the rear shock mounts to the frame, instead of to the floor.
  • New Whitewall tires, balanced.
  • The entire wire harness has been replaced with a new upgraded wire harness from "Painless". New starter and alternator, switches, and all connectors are all new.
  • New mufflers and down pipes, NOT SEEN IN PICS.
  • New headliner, carpet, door panels (not original), redid the front and rear seats. seat covers came with the vehicle, and seems to have been done previously. Seats are in very good shape.
  • much more to list
Car is in very nice shape, and starts and drives GREAT. No leaks, No smoke, or vibrations, and runs cool in traffic. Transmission shifts as it should, and all the gauges work, including turn signal dashboard indicators.
One More Thing: Please notice how well the rear Glass Lift Gate sits flush. Almost every Nomad I have seen, (Other then Restored) has a large gap between the Lift Gate and the roof. This is expensive to correct, however this car seems to have NOT devolved that "GAP" issue. I have removed the Spring Rods, and installed Gas Shocks to lift and hold the Lift gate.
TO DO LIST :The Nomad still needs Wiper Motor, Radio, heater fan, and rear tail gate button/lock.
Please dont hesitate to ask any questions you may have, I will try my best to answer them.
