Description

There's really something to be said for vehicles that have had careful owners. Take this 1972 Chevrolet C10 pickup for example. It has been owned and loved its entire life, and as a result, the 350 cubic inch V8 purrs like new and the truck drives like it should, a relatively rare phenomenon in the world of vintage pickups. This is one case where proper treatment has definitely paid off.Somehow, light blue paint just looks right on the squared-off shape of the C10. Not just for tailfins and chrome, this pickup wears the pastel paint proudly and still looks rugged thanks to the Chevy's utilitarian shape. A white top certainly helps, too. It has been repainted, of course, and the older restoration still looks great, having been done to a good standard a few years ago. Tight gaps, straight bodywork, and no modifications mean that this truck recalls a bygone era better than most, particularly with its outstanding mechanicals. The 8-foot bed has been coated with spray-in bedliner material that's so neatly and crisply applied that it almost looks like a drop-in protector. Bright chrome bumpers, the original stainless trim, and shiny polished bed protectors add some flash to the otherwise staid commercial vehicle, and everything is very nicely preserved. The interior certainly appears to be original and is holding up quite well. The wild plaid vinyl seat cover has Highlander Plaid cloth inserts that look especially cool today and the blue and white combination works well with the blue paint on the dash. The steering column is topped with a wood-rimmed wheel that might have been intended for a Corvette, and the factory gauges are still bright and well-marked. The column shifter moves through the gears easily enough, managing a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, so this truck is still daily-driver friendly. The original AM radio is not working, but that only means it's ready for your choice of entertainment system, and you'll note that this is a factory A/C truck, a rare option back in 1972 (needs a recharge). A warmed-over 350 cubic inch V8 lives in the cavernous engine bay, delivering just the right combination of performance and reliability. It still carries its factory air cleaner and valve covers, plus a lot of Chevy Orange paint that makes it look quite correct. In addition to the A/C, it's also equipped with power steering and power disc brakes, so it feels modern and comfortable today, and the burbling dual exhaust has a nice tone that's never annoying. The original independent front end is far more sophisticated than Ford's Twin-I-Beam setup, and the coil spring rear suspension with long trailing arms makes this pickup ride well empty or full. It's clean and solid underneath, if not detailed, and you won't find many better these days. Factory-style Rally wheels carry 235/75/15 whitewall radials for a clean old truck look. This C10 is one of those trucks that just feels right, which is surely due to careful maintenance from an guy who really loved it. It's also pretty darned good looking. Call today!
