Description

This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro is one of the best-executed pro-touring cars we've ever featured. Not only does it look gorgeous, but it offers big block horsepower, a grippy suspension, and massive 4-wheel disc brakes, all combined with a bunch of comfort and convenience upgrades to create a car that only looks like a vintage F-body. There's no argument that the 1969 Camaro is one of the best-looking performance cars of the era, and there's really no way to make one look bad. This one wears a two-year-old coat of modern urethane in the original Lemans Blue color, which actually looks far better than it ever did in 1969 and is definitely a proper Camaro color. The sheetmetal is beautifully restored, laser-straight, and that paint really is spectacular, so you can see the undistorted reflections in the car's surface. They kept the stock hood, which always looks right, and there's a ducktail spoiler out back, but that's it for ornamentation. No badges, a simple blacked-out tail panel (which is correct on a car with a big block engine), and chrome bumpers that look great. If you like the stock look, this car totally nails it with simplicity and quality. The interior sticks mostly to the factory recipe, starting with houndstooth upholstery. However, those buckets are a little more aggressively bolstered than the stockers, and the wood-rimmed steering wheel is a little fatter, so it feels modern the moment you slip behind the wheel. Gauges are stunning Dakota Digital analog pieces that glow from within when you turn on the lights, and there's a carbon-fiber surround for the shifter to keep it looking high-tech. Vintage Air A/C was added and it's effective with R134a refrigerant inside, although this is a factory air car so it looks totally OEM. There's also a $3500 AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo system with Hertz speakers, tweeters, and a subwoofer in the trunk, plus a ton of sound-deadening material so you only hear what you want to hear inside. The trunk is clean and tidy, and is only a repro mat away from looking very correct.Mechanically, this sucker gets it done with a Chevy big block punched out to 468 cubic inches. With less than 100 miles on the engine, it's still brand new with only test and tune miles on it. A Spectre cold air intake feeds a big Holley 4-barrel carburetor a top an aluminum intake manifold. Chevy Orange paint, a few chrome pieces, and a serpentine belt drive system with accessories all work together to create a modern interpretation of a 1969 Camaro. A big aluminum radiator keeps it cool and a built TH400 3-speed automatic transmission seems to ignore the huge torque churning through it. Out back, there's a custom 12-bolt rear with a finned cover and a giant sway bar and composite springs to really pin this car to the pavement. A custom driveshaft ties it all together. Giant Wilwood disc brakes measure 13-inches up front and 12-inches in back, so you get Corvette-level stopping power and the exhaust system sounds amazing thanks to stainless Magnaflow Mufflers and an X-pipe. Those 18-inch American Racing wheels are exactly the right size for a vintage Camaro and carry 225/40/18 front and 275/40/18 rear Bridgestone performance radials.Professionally built and insanely competent, this Camaro delivers exactly what its awesome looks promise.
