Description

:

This is a very high end professional restoration of a 1959 Chevrolet Impala from California. These are very, very hard to find in this type of condition. The pictures were difficult to take due to all of the shiny chrome! Speaking of the chrome, all of the bright work was redone. Not just the bumpers – everything from the bumpers to all of the window frames. All of the glass is new so no glazing going on here. The paint is a 9.9 out of 10 with a mirror glaze finish. The top is new as well the interior. The undercarriage is also highly detailed. There are no disappointments with this Impala. It was recently serviced at a Classic Car Shop in SoCal and runs and drives beautifully. Most recently the carburetor was rebuilt on it. It only requires 1 pump on the gas pedal to start this beauty. It is equipped with the highly sought after big block of its time,

It was the feature and cover car of a magazine in Orange County, California: Velocity Magazine. It included a great write-up on the Impala along with several high end photos taken during the photo shoot. It’s not easy finding a car worthy of such an honor. In addition, this Impala was featured at the 2011 Beverly Hills Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance. In order to be eligible, you have to submit an entrance application into this prestigious show where the organization members decide whether or not the car should be featured in the annual event. In fact, one of the participants from the same show went on to win at Pebble Beach. Both the magazine and the Beverly Hills Concour magazine are included in the photos in this listing along with the ribbon earned during the Concour show.

This Impala has been trailered almost everywhere it goes. There is no driving it on the 405 in SoCal with this car. It was restored back to original stock factory specs. If you don’t want to get any attention then don’t look at this vehicle as it always draws a crowd. I have several more pictures of this Impala. Be sure to note the details to the trunk and engine compartments. This Impala is also loaded with many desirable options. It has not been modified and is period correct. The features and options of this Impala include:

  • 348 4bl
  • Automatic with Power glide
  • Power Top
  • Power Brakes
  • Power Steering (a must for this big car!)
  • Continental Kit
  • Wide White Wall Tires
  • Spinner Style Hup Caps
  • Reverb AM Radio with Front and Rear Speakers
  • Twin Rear Mount Antenna’s
  • Fender Skirts
  • Chrome Tissue Dispenser
  • Roman Red Exterior with White Interior

About the Second generation Impala (1959–1960) Wikipedia

The 1959 Chevrolet Impala was redesigned. Sharing bodyshells with lower-end Buick's and Oldsmobile's as well as with Pontiac, part of a GM economy move, the Chevrolet's wheelbase 1-1/2 inches longer. Using a new X-frame chassis, the roof line was three inches lower, bodies were two inches wider, and curb weight increased. Its tailfins protruded outward, rather than upward. The taillights were a large "teardrop" design at each side, and two slim-wide nonfunctional front air intake scoops were added just above the grille,

The Impala became a separate series, adding a four-door hardtop and four-door sedan, to the two-door Sport Coupe and convertible. Sport Coupes featured a shortened roof line and wrap-over back window. The standard engine was an I6, while the base V8 was the carryover 283 cu in (4,640 cc), at 185 hp (138 kW). Optional were a 283 cu in with 290 hp (220 kW) and 348 cu in (5,700 cc) V8 up to 315 hp (235 kW). Standard were front and rear armrests, an electric clock, dual sliding sun visors, and crank-operated front vent windows. A contoured hooded instrument panel held deep-set gauges. A six-way power seat was a new option, as was "Speedminder", for the driver to set a needle at a specific speed and a buzzer would sound if the pre-set was exceeded.

The 1960 Impala models reinstated three round taillights on each side, and a white band running along the rear fenders. The 1959 was the only year for the distinctive bat wing style fins with cats eye style taillights. Additional differences of the 1959 model included a bolder front end look with additional venting and air intake configuration below the hood. Most Impala aficionados prefer this look more so than the 1960 because of these two distinctive differences although both years look great! Note, the only 2 modifications to this Impala are the chrome finish area below the hood (It was anodized when new) along with a chrome strip located near the bottom of the windshield (instead of the color of the dash pad).

Nice solid Impalas in this desirable color combination are getting harder and harder to find. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to own one of the legendary iconic American fin cars from the 50’s. Who doesn’t know someone who had a great story about these iconic American fin great cars. If you are in the market for a very nice high end, garage kept California Impala, you will want to place a bid/offer. It is on a clean California title in my name and has been for several years.
