1950 Chevrolet Pickup Truck 3100
Description
This truck is selling at No Reserve. I bought this truck a few years back with the intention of restoring it. That never happened. This Chevy has been fitted with a 283 V8 and automatic transmission. I believe it is an S 10 frame. It has a push button ignition.
Looks good when driving it.You will get plenty of waves and thumbs up from both friends and strangers as you drive past them. I only took it out on the weekends for some fun cruises. I've gotten it up to about 60 mph. The furthest I've ever driven in one trip is about 30 miles. - The Front and Back chrome bumpers are in pretty good shape. Some surface rust is occurring on the back side.
- The 283 V8 runs well with adequate power for this truck.I have gotten this truck up to about 60 mph.
- It has drum brakes
- The cowl vent at the bottom of the windshield and next to the driver side door open which allows for good air circulation.
- Basic electronics work such as headlights (high/low), turn signals, hazards, window wipers, aftermarket radio, and horn (the horn is operated by a button under the dash, not on the steering wheel) Speakers were installed behind the seat.
- The speedometer does not work correctly. It got to a point where it squealed so loudly that I disconnected the cable from the back of the speedometer so I wouldn't have to listen to it. Bought this truck with unknown miles on the engine. Since disconnecting the speedometer cable I estimate I've driven this truck for 300 miles.
- No Power Steering, No AC, No Heat
- This 1950 does have rust.I tried taking pictures to show the rust as best as possible.
- The previous owner decided to throw paint over areas of the body where rust wasn’t properly removed. You can see this along both door frames, under the side rail of the truck bed, and various other places along the body. The top of the exterior cab was scratched and paint has come off (see picture).Bottom-line, the paint job looks good to the casual eye from a distance but up close it’s easy to see it wasn’t done well.
- Drivers side window will not completely close. When in the up position there is about a 1 cm opening.
- This truck is mostly steel but the previous owner used bondo or other filler on some small sections of the truck such as the cab corners, over the side rails, and along the edges of the truck bed floor.
- It has an oil leak from the oil sender which runs down the side of the engine.
- The accelerator pedal isn’t secured to the assembly. It rests against it and can be knocked over with your foot.See pictures
- Driver side door shuts and opens but the outside handle is stuck in slightly down position (see pictures)
- The bench seat has a dent in the bottom frame on the drivers side which results in a sunken in spot that you can feel when sitting on it.
- The ignition key will not unlock the doors or the glove box. I do not have the key that will unlock the truck doors or glove box.
- Bottom-line, this is a fun truck to own for the driver that just wants to cruise around for weekend fun. It is also a great truck for someone that wants to rebuild it as a project. Let me know if you have any questions.
