1956 Chevy Nomad Wagon
Description
56 Nomad. Very solid car. It has a 283 that is kinda rumpy. Runs well. Turbo 400 transmission that has a shift kit and shifts harder than my taste. Front disc brakes with a double 8" booster. Due to the low vacuum produced by the rumpy motor the brakes are only so-so, not much better than the originals. I had plans to change the cam, but I found another car I wanted, so this one needs to go on the market. I believe I have all the Nomad specific trim pieces as well as all the Belair side trim. Originally a Tropical Turquoise car. Original front and rear seats. Glass is all there, but front is scratched. When I installed the motor I cleaned and painted the firewall. IT has been lowered 2" front and rear. Americal mags shown in one pic do not come with the car. Original wheels and hubcaps come with the Nomad. It has dual exhaust with Flowmaster 50's as I recall. Rearend has homemade traction bars. 3.55 open rear end. The body has only a few small spots of rust holes. There is a few in the cargo area trough. A spot in the lower tailgate jamb. May be a few around the tailgate hinges. There may be a few more, but overall a very limited amount of rust. The drivers quarter panel has been beat up and needs repair, or probably replacement, depending on the talent applied. Floors look solid as well as the roof. Most of the floors have been wire brushed, some have been prepped and primed with DP Epoxy. This could be a run and drive while you work on it type of car. Or a great start for a nicely restored original or hotrod.
