I am selling a very, very rare Spirit of 76, Chevy Bonanza. Only 10 special edition Bonanzas were assembled and only 500 Spirit of 76 trucks came off the assembly line. When was the last time you could say you had an opportunity to own a 1 of 10 vehicle, especially a Chevy. That is what you are bidding on. The truth of the matter is: that there is a high propensity that this is the only Spirit of 76 Special Edition survivor. I have searched for Spirit of 76s' over the last ten years and have only seen a handful and none of the Special Editions (obviously). At first I was skeptical, but the owner gave me documentation and I found an online add for this vehicle (Philadelphia Chevy Dealer) before I actually purchased it. And it only has 41K miles! I have to put on the caveat that it is "believed", but the owner told me it was and the condition of the car helps confirm what he says!
The Spirit of 76 targeted those patriotic Americans that were/are proud of their country and wore that patriotism on their sleeve. In a time of terrorist threats, presidential campaigns that tout “Make America Great Again”, I say “Buy Proud, Buy American”. This is an era when we owned the market and the US was the global standard! I am not a dealer, but over the years I have purchase a few, ultra-rare vehicles. My eBay feedback score shows that I have been a member for over 10 years and have an outstanding feedback record. Never a negative rating!
Fair warning, you will not be able to replace the interior because it is so rare, but the good news is it doesn’t need repairing. This vehicle has the original Spirit of 76’ paint job, matching # engine, 99% rust free, strong 350 V8 engine, automatic tranny, 4X4 works perfect, drives straight, no blue smoke, no cracks in dash, all gauges work, all electrical works, windows crank up and down smoothly, straight chrome lines, the official Spirit of 76 badging, the Scotsdale interior package, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, not the original radio (the dash is not cut, so it can be fixed!) I do not know when the pushbar or the bedliner were added. This is a two owner car. I bought it from a vet and he sold it to me because I am a veteran as well. It is unmolested besides the radio, and the bedliner (I am unsure if the Special Edition came with the pushbar or not).
Please note I will answer all questions, I will take additional pictures, you can fly in to see it, you could have your own independently picked auto shop critique it, but it is sold “As Is”. I have a clean, clear title in my name. My phone number is 515-661-7277.
Now for the part that sounds condescending, but it really isn’t. Please do not low ball my price. This is a rare vehicle and my price is firm (I don't need to sell it). Many other sellers are asking $25-30K+ for restored 70’s trucks. This is a rare, original, 41K truck. I will only accept a wire transfer, PayPal transfer or cash.
The Spirit of 76 is stored in my 3 car, climate controlled garage, every day since I bought it and hasn’t seen a drop of rain. I only detail it twice a year with DRI Wash. I drive it less than 25 miles a year, which is a little frustrating. As you know, you have to drive them to get the fluids through them, but you can’t take them too far in fear of a rock chip or rain shower. She really turns heads and I am very proud to show her in 4th of July parades. Everyone asks about the history:)
I highly encourage you to do your market research to understand how rare this vehicle is. This is more than likely the only Spirit of 76 Special Edition on the market, but I ask anyone who has pictures or experience with them to send me an email so I can share with the group. Thank you so much and good luck bidding!
