1973 Chevrolet Chevy Blazer

Description

1973 was a break year for the Chevrolet Blazer, and it was the second generation Blazer which would be produced for only 3 years with the full convertible top.​ This example​ is a two owner vehicle, and the​ second (current) owner did a complete body-off​ restorationwith over​ $20,000invested ​in bodywork, paint​ and installation of​ a rebuilt 454 engine.

This 1973 K-5 Cheyenne package​ blazer four-wheel-drive with automatic transmission, factory air conditioning, power steering and brakes has bucket seats in front and rear bench seat. The tailback has a wind up window thatworks as it should, and all glass is in excellent condition. Original stainless steel trim is all in great condition, and chrome bumpers are original and clean, with minor surface rust and pitting. They still shine nicely and are quite presentable. The fiberglass top was also painted the correct white, and it installs and removes correctly. The interior shows some wear especially in the carpeting which should be replaced. The door panels are original in in great condition, as are the seats (except for a small rip in the driver's seat).

The main selling point on this Blazer is the enormous amount of work that was done on the body and frame. The vehicle was disassembled and all rust was cut out and replaced with new metal.....NOT PUTTY! The body work is very fine.....essentially was show condition work when it was completed, and the new factory color paint was applied in a pro body paint shop. There are no drips, runs or "orange peel" on the finish. The frame of this Blazer was bead blasted and painted black, and the wiring harness etc. were correctly remounted on the unit. All wheels were also bead blasted and painted the correct factory white. The Blazer has been in storage for 2 years, and it could use a complete detailing in order to highlight the beauty of the body work and finish.

A rebuilt 454 V8 was installed in this Blazer, and it was equipped with an Edelbrock performance manifold and carburetor. A mild "RV" cam was installed in the engine, and custom bent 3 inch "Flow Through" side eject exhaust pipes were installed to complete the original appearance but with a performance edge. The transmission was removed and completely rebuilt, and it shifts and drives correctly. Power steering and brakes work correctly and truck tracks straight and true. Tires show dry rot and should be replaced.
The engine currently has a significant lower end knock which sounds like rod noise. The Blazer will be sold "as is" with an understanding that this mechanical problem does exist in the engine. Obviously, this will require some mechanical work to remedy, but the block remains solid and all performance equipment is like new and barely used. The engine was driven only 1500 miles when the "knock" began, so likely internal damage is moderate.Additionally, a new Idler Arm should be installed for the steering linkage. This is a relatively minor repair.​

This second generation K-5 is an excellent restored example of this super fun series of the full convertible Blazer. With the engine problem corrected and some minor work completed on the interior, it will clearly be one of the finest on the East Coast!​
