Description

1965 Impala SS (genuine SS model) Nemesis

WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW TO SEE IT IN ACTION

Monetary value of upgrades included in each description for your convenience. If you are in Central Maryland, message me and I will do my best to arrange a meeting in a public area where you can see the car in person before auction ends. Local pickup only. If you are out of state and wish to own this car, you must make all arrangements for transport.

The car’s name is Nemesis. Cars without names have no soul; this one does. The modern word “nemesis” is used to mean “enemy” or “rival”. However, the original word comes from the Greek Goddess Nemesis, who is the goddess of retribution. She is most often depicted with wings and a sword. Her name is found on the dashboard, and her image is on the steering wheel. LSX SS emblems on the fenders indicate that the car is LS powered by a genuine LS2 (with some modifications to add some power). The is a genuine Super Sport Impala, and so SS is added to display the heritage of the vehicle.

All new frame up restoration, new floors front and back. New poly body mounts, replaced frame. Under 1,000 miles on it since restoration (759 miles at time of listing to be exact). Roughly 63,000 miles on the motor.

DRIVETRAIN

6.0 LS2 Engine tuned by PCM Performance (transmission control module also tuned). This is a genuine LS2 out of a GTO (same exact engine as the Corvette), not cobbled together truck parts. Aluminum block and aluminum 243 heads. 1 7/8” Stainless long tube headers, 2.5” stainless exhaust system with X-pipe. Stock fans, radiator, etc for easy, cost effective replacement when the time comes. (Value $6000 engine and related items, $300 tune) Estimated horsepower in the 450-500 range. Filled with 5W30 Mobile 1 Synthetic Engine Oil. Car is similar in weight to the GTO the engine is out of, so MPG is in the same ballpark, 17 city and 25 highway. Gear ratio is lower than the stock GTO ratio, so it will be a little less, but still very reasonable. 63,000 miles on motor but compression test comparable to new.

Precision Industries Vigilante torque converter custom made for application, 2800 stall. ($1000 value). The best converter you can buy. Precision Industries claims that adding their Vigilante converter gets an additional 50 horsepower to the rear wheels, and believe me, you can feel it. From the Precision Industries Website (converter.com): The forged steel front covers of our converters reduce the weight and density problems associated with steel billets. The lock-up clutch of our Vigilante converter resists heat and increases fuel efficiency. There is a gain of 40-50 horsepower at the rear wheels due to increased torque multiplication with our 9 ½ and 10½ lock-up models.

4L65E Transmission (new), Complete Monster Transmission overhaul rated to 650hp. Filled with Mobile 1 High Performance Synthetic Transmission Fluid. ($2000 value)

Newly rebuilt 12 bolt rear. 4.10:1 gears ($200 value), Yukon positraction carrier ($500 value), all new wheel bearings. Don’t let the naysayers fool you…4.10 gears are perfectly streetable…especially with a four speed overdrive transmission.

SUSPENSION

All new suspension, tubular front control arms, upper and lower. Tubular adjustable upper control arms in the rear, stock lower rear arms for proper airbag mounting. 2” drop spindles. Airbags front and back so that you can ride low and still clear any speed bumps with ease. Twin Viair compressors and air tank located out of sight on the upper shelf in the trunk directly behind rear seats. Looks amazing slammed at a car show. Ride quality is silky smooth. ($3000 value)

Disc brakes front and back with hydroboost upgrade. All new components. New brake lines, master cylinder, calipers and pads, rotors, prop valve, hydroboost unit and all associated brackets. Rotors are drilled and slotted. Wilwood proportioning valve. ($2000 total value) This car stops on a dime and gives you 9 cents change. Seriously, I have never had brakes that stopped this well, even in modern cars. Brakes operate just like any car’s brakes, but if you need to stop in a hurry, and slam the brakes, you are going to STOP, and I mean QUICK. It’s a good thing I put shoulder strap seatbelts in it!

Boss 338 20” wheels in satin graphite. 20” x 8.5” in the front, 20” x 10” in the rear. Tire width on the rear measures 11”. Yokohama S Drive performance tires. ($1800 total value)

CUSTOM ADDITIONS

Complete custom, one-of-a-kind interior (VALUE UNDETERMINED BUT WOULD COST MANY THOUSANDS TO HAVE MADE). Easily the most impressive part of the car. Be prepared for people to ask to take pictures at gas stations or wherever you take the car. Riding in this interior makes you feel as if you are riding in a new Lamborghini instead of a 50+ year old classic. Leather seats front and back are out of a late model Camaro and are extremely comfortable. I didn’t hook it up, but the seats are heated, so if you want to hook it up eventually, the option is there. Leather Corvette steering wheel. Note that the airbag portion of the steering wheel is not an actual airbag. I should also note that the “Engine Start” button on the console is not functional. It was put there simply to fill the hole in the console for the missing lighter. Buttons on the steering wheel can be made functional if you install a new clockspring. Color in video has some of the red looking somewhat orange, but the true color is closer to the photos; black with dark red accents.

Custom, one-of-a-kind fiberglass engine bay (VALUE UNDETERMINED). Every time I take the car to a car show, the engine bay is what people seem to drool over. Everything is hidden away in the engine bay for a super clean, showstopper look.

Custom Emblems on fenders, dash, steering wheel, and underhood.

Custom tail lights flush mounted with the trunk. No more awkward-looking mason jars jutting out of the trunk.

Shaved drip rails, and flush mounted front and rear glass for a sleek, ultra-modern look.

All chrome trim, mirrors, and original style emblems have been shaved. Modern Impala mirrors have been added.

Shaved door handles with door poppers. Press the button on the key fob to open the door automatically. Works for both doors, and there’s also an alarm included. There is a hidden mechanical failsafe to open a door in case something ever goes wrong. There is also a button on the console to open the passenger door without having to reach across the car and grab the handle.

Custom built HID headlights (all four). 4X Morimoto Mini projectors inside custom housings with glass (not cheap plastic) faces. LED halos come on whenever car is running. Outer headlights are the low beams, inners are high beams. When high beams are turned on, all four headlights come on. ($700 value)

OTHER STUFF

Kenwood audio, two 6.5” component speakers with tweeters custom mounted in doors, two 6x9” speakers on package shelf. One 12” subwoofer tube in trunk. Two amps to power all speakers. ($650 value)

Upgraded steering gear (3 turns lock to lock instead of 5). Steers and handles like a modern car. Surprisingly nimble for a car this size and age.

Complete electronics overhaul with modern stock GM wiring. ALL wiring from the 60’s has been removed from the car. Stock GTO harness was used to power most of the car, although a few things were added. Due to the fact that there is no BCM (Body Control Module), a few of the fuses in the interior fuse box would not light up. To remedy this, an additional fuse box powers the radio, wiper motor, and the twin compressors for the airbags. The one thing that I could not make function properly because of the missing BCM is the windshield wipers rest position and wiper delay. The wipers do work, but they only work in fast or slow. They also do not return to the rest position on their own, so you have to time it right to turn them off to get them to the bottom of the windshield. Has not been much of a problem for me as I do not take this car out in the rain if I can help it.

Speedhut Revolution gauges ($670 value). White numbers on black faces. Numbers light up an evil red at night.

Modern, stock GM turn signal and wiper controls on 2006 GTO steering column

All new fuel system. New ceramic coated Tanks Inc EFI tank ($260 value) and in-tank pump rated for up to 650 hp ($250 value), stainless steel hard line along frame, 6AN braided line at tank and at fuel rails. ($300)

B&M Shifter. Ratchet action allows you to manually shift through the gears or allow the vehicle to shift for you.

B&M transmission cooler

Shoulder strap seat belts on front seats

Brand new inner and outer window felts are included, but are not currently on the car. I was going to wait until after paint to install the new outer (exterior) ones, and the inner ones have a small chrome strip which I didn’t care for so I did not install them.

I will provide you with a video file on how everythingin the car operates, such as where the fuse boxes are located, how to disassemble the interior, how to get into the car if your battery should die and you cannot pop the doors open, etc.

$19,500+ in upgrades alone, not counting the value of the car itself, the custom interior, the custom engine bay, the custom body modifications, or any of the repair work completed. Prices are given only as a reference for what it would cost to do these modifications if they were not already done, and not to assume the car is worth a certain amount based on these numbers alone.

WHAT IT NEEDS:

This vehicle is listed as-is. The car will need both quarterpanels replaced at some point. You can probably get by with only doing partials, as the rough areas are around the rear wheel wells. A previous owner attempted to fix the areas with fiberglass and it’s not excellent work. While quarterpanels are needed, overall the current ones do not look horrendous, so you can still drive this car in this condition and be proud. The rest of the body is rock solid and rust free.

Bumpers are fine if you intend to paint them as I intended to, but will probably need to be replaced or sent to a plating company if you want them to be chrome.

Obviously it needs paint, some minimal bodywork and panel alignment. If I had the place to do the quarters and paint myself, I would have done it already and sold this car for a fortune, but since I cannot complete the project, you can pick up this car at a price far less than what it’s worth finished.

DO NOT place a bid on this car unless you are willing and able to pay the amount of the bid you placed.
