Description

Pickup trucks have earned a prominent place in the collector market over the past few decades, and classics like this 1972 Chevrolet C10 Stepside make it easy to see why. While this pickup wasn't the chrome-laden top-of-the-line offering for '72, it wasn't exactly the bare-bones model either. The "Custom" series was essentially the mid-level version with some very desirable factory upgrades. Hence, this little Chevy is the logical choice for the guy who wants a really nice vintage truck that he can still use for some light hauling.
This C10 looks completely stock in appearance except for the oversize 265/70R17 Michelin radials mounted on a striking set of old style chrome wheels. Seafoam green was one of the most popular GM truck colors during the 1960s and '70s, and has now emerged as one of the favorite finishes for restorations. It shows especially well on this truck, where it just seems to be the right fit for the utilitarian look of the squared-off body lines and stepside short bed. It's an above-average driver-quality paint job that still has plenty of shine, no major flaws and would look great at the local cruise-in. The front and rear chrome bumpers appear to be fairly new, and the grille assembly is in excellent condition. Check out the inside of the bed, and you'll find that the wooden slats and metal ribs look great, so you know this truck has lived a life of leisure. The cosmetics of this truck aren't only well-appointed, they're well-balanced. This is a nice Southern pickup!
Climb aboard the cab of this proud machine, and you'll find lots of space and a host of those aforementioned factory options. Let's start with the most significant one first... This truck has factory air conditioning, a biggie back in 1972, and when it's 98 degrees outside, it's still a biggie today! Other options are tilt wheel, full instrumentation-including a factory tach-and the original AM/FM radio. The interior is extremely nice and exudes that fresh, factory original appearance. The CST-style black bench seat offers ample comfort and shows no damage. The matching dash pad on this C10 isn't all split and cracked like it is on many older trucks. It's soft and supple with plenty of gloss. The plastic door panels and rubber floor mat are in nice shape as well. Even the interior paint shows hardly any weathering at all.
Raise the hood and you'll find a cavernous engine compartment that is nice and tidy with everything in its place. The 350 engine is spotless and painted the period-correct Chevy orange. It's a completely stock motor with the original Rochester carburetor, cast iron intake and factory exhaust manifolds. The engine starts easily, idles as smooth as silk, and brings plenty of muscle to the table. V8 power is the way to go with a pickup like this. It's connected to a TH350 automatic transmission that goes through the gears efficiently with no issues. The undercarriage is clean and sturdy with no excessive wear to the chassis components. Rear coil springs and long trailing arms accommodate a healthy payload without sacrificing a comfortable ride. Power steering makes this C10 a dream to drive, while power front disc brakes make her easy to stop. Both of those features are worth their weight in gold!
This 1972 Chevrolet C10 Custom possesses all of the features you would want while remaining refreshingly simple and uncomplicated. You couldn't ask for more than that. Owning this truck would be a sound investment-and those don't come along very often these days. Call today!
