Description

Freshly built, packing some serious power and a great looking exterior, this 1970 Chevrolet El Camino is equally well-prepared to haul cargo or just flat out HAUL. It's about as fine a representation of its model as you're likely to find, and comes with build receipts to document its evolution into the awesome street machine you see here.
El Caminos were designed and built for a specific purpose - combine the functionality of a truck with the drivability and appointments of a car. Certainly, this specimen, decked out in its original Champagne Gold hue with black stripes down the hood, is quite an overachiever, but you can see how precisely Chevy accomplished its objective right away. Look toward the front and you'll see the Chevelle-like trappings of a muscle car - long, scooped hood and spacious engine compartment, sporty front grille and badging. Cast your gaze toward the back and you see a cargo area that's no joke - long and broad, with an appreciable amount of space between the wheel wells. In stock configuration, this is one impressive looking El Camino, with clean chrome on its front and back bumpers, trim and light bezels, and nice clear glass on all four sides of the cabin. Even with that hauling capacity, this is a thoroughly agile-looking car and it's pretty easy to imagine putting it through paces that no mere traditional pickup would be able to handle.
Inside, you'll find a very nicely equipped, fresh interior sporting its original black hue. With fewer than 400 miles logged since its build, everything is looking as sharp as you could want. The bucket seats show almost no wear, the black dash pad is straight with a convincing shine, and the locking center console positions the shifter within easy reach and shows no scratches. Just beyond the custom Chevy steering wheel sits a full assortment of white-faced Auto Meter Phantom gauges seamlessly fitted into the black steel of the dash, and just to your right is a Pioneer AM/FM/CD player that also features iPod compatibility. Take a closer look at how the Vintage Air climate control system has been installed - mounted directly into the dash and exhaling through the factory registers to keep occupants comfortable. In back, the cargo area is in good shape, with straight, unscratched ribbing across the floor and undented wheel wells to both sides that clearly have been kept out of the path of any rolling objects. We love seeing skilled workmanship, and that's just what we have here.
This is a drivetrain that's packing some SERIOUS power. A fuel injected 502 cubic inch H.O. V8 sits under the hood, breathing easy through a set of ceramic coated headers and churning out 461 horsepower and a monstrous 558lb/ft of torque. It's paired with a Tremec TKO 5-speed manual overdrive transmission, one of the very few transmissions capable of reliably handling such an output. An MSD ignition system has been added to maximize the spark and an oversized aluminum radiator sits up front to keep the big engine nice and cool. Check underneath and you'll see everything looks good, as well -no dented floorpans or bent rails anywhere. This impressively-built El Camino sits on a set of 15" Chevy Super Sport rims, outfitted with Goodrich T/A radials, with just the aggressive, inclined stance you'd want in a performer like this.
