Description

1973 ChevyCheyenneSuper 20 3+3 Truck

Up for auction is a 1973 Chevrolet Cheyenne Super 20 pickup truck with 89,306 original miles.

This is the big dog Camper Special 8200 GVW, with a 454 engine, TH400 automatic transmission & a 14-bolt 3:73 rear end.

The Chevy is a true barn find; as it was parked in 1984 when the registration ran out in June of that year. It had been purchased as a farm truck, but the owner’s farming venture never worked out So, having no further use for the truck he drained all of the fuel and just let it sit for the next 33 years!

One of the records that came with the truck shows that the oil was changed on 08/23/83 at 89,069 miles; which verifies the originality of the current odometer reading.

My dad & I bought theCheyennefrom the owner’s estate last September Soon after we checked out the gas tanks with a video scope & found them to be clean & shiny so we changed out the rubber fuel lines & filter, poured some fuel in the tank and much to our pleasure the engine came right back to life!

Overall the truck is solid & in good condition as can be seen in the photos & video.

It seats six, rides well & is free from interior rattles.

The cool old body patina has been preserved with a clear coat system which adds to the vintage look.

We’ve only done enough to get the truck operational again so we’ve replaced the oil & filter, tires, master cylinder, front brake hoses & pads, But since it has been in hibernation for such a long time there are still a lot of maintenance items that need to be attended to: such as coolant hoses, engine belts, fluid changes and a tune up. We’ve also noticed that the heater core has been bypassed, probably because it leaked; and one rear brake cylinder is leaking.

Most car guys would make short work of what is needed to get this cool old truck up to 100%. But since it’s so unique, we’re hoping for someone that will take the extra steps to make something very special out of it. We imagine this big rig customized; and being used to transport a trailer queen, race car, or boat!

We also need to mention; this is a no reserve auction. Meaning that every bid counts!
