Up for auction is a 1991 Chevy Sportvan with 46k actual original miles(see autocheck history). Probably one of the few left in the country with this low of miles. It was purchased new by a large aerospace company we work with to go from building to building on site in the high desert in California (so zero rust). The company was serious about maintenance so all services such as oil changes were done on a regular schedule whether it needed it or not. Next PM service is scheduled for 48k miles. The van looks as it does in the pictures and is in remarkable shape for it 26 age. It even comes with the original sealed emergency keys and owner’s manual. Would make an excellent start point for a resto-conversion or just reliable retro transportation. It has the looks of last generation of the old Chevy vans with the modern conveniences of fuel injection, overdrive trans and air conditioning (works great)

Mechanical: Comes equipped with the reliable 4.3 Chevy v6 and overdrive transmission. I put about a hundred miles on it to check everything out. Engine starts well from cold and idles fine with good oil pressure. It drives straight with no vibration. I was surprised at how smooth the van feels at speed…you can even take your hands off the wheel at 50. Does not feel like a 26-year-old van. Ac blows cold. Running the ac drops idle speed but still acceptable. I replaced the distributer cap and rotor which were the originals. So, I have no doubt the spark plugs and wires are original as well and should make a difference when replaced. Wires and rubbers parts on engine are in good shape. Under the dash is remarkably clean and wiring and fuse box looks great. There are a few squeaks here and there and some wind from the front door seals, but it is a 26-year-old van.

New parts include:

New catalytic converter and muffler.

New fuel pump and filter (our distributor did not have a AC Delco in stock, so we used an aftermarket. It’s a little louder than expected (see video) but seems to work fine.

Body and interior: First off this is a California high desert car with zero rust. Undercarriage is remarkably clean. Paint was even shiny under the fuel tank. Truly a time bomb. Body is in overall good shape with exception of front doors and rear left barn door. All doors align and open and close fine but have damage on the outside edge (my body guy wants $200 a side to fix…leave it to new owner). Vans were operated in high desert with high winds so eventually door stays break, and the damage occurred when wind blows the door all the way open (same damage on several of their vehicles). There are multiple dings and dents, but overall van looks good and paint is shinny. Front windshield weather-strip has shrunk and should be replaced (however still seems to seals ok). The interior is in good shape. Rubber mat is torn, seats are in good shape and interior plastics not brittle and looks good. There is a small crack on dash and on ash tray. Main headliner is in great shape, rear section headliner has some bubbles. Stock radio works but poorly. Front Driver side door handle feels loose, and front right-side window regulator won’t roll down all the way. However, overall interior looks good and has a great retro feel.

Keep in mind that this is a 26-year-old van and is not perfect, if your expecting a new car this is not for you. However, if your looking for a clean low mile example of a classic van it may be one of the nicer ones you will find. I included as many pictures as I can. I am selling this van under my dealer license so for all California buyers you will need to pay sales tax (amount depends on the county you live in) and transfer licensing, smog upon pick up(roughly$300). I make no extra money off my paperwork just charge you for the actual cost. For out of state buyers you need to arrange shipping with a common carrier (a car carrier company) to avoid local California sales tax, if you pick van up personally or have a friend pick up we are required to collect local taxes. For out of state buyers who use a car transport company the only fee would be a $45 on top of sale price for Docs. Thanks for looking
