Description

Car runs and drives great, very smooth. I drive it a couple of times a week, otherwise it’s in garage. It puffs a little gray smoke on startup (dry desert valve seals). I bought car last March in NV where it came from AZ after sitting for a long while; I’ve tinkered with it, updated seats and many small parts and now I won’t be able to finish.

Body: incredibly straight and solid. Only minor rust shown in passenger rear wheelwell photo; same area trunk drop down panel is separated underneath behind quarter panel, but all there. No rust underneath - floors, rockers etc.

Car in gray primer, added SS hood and original 7” rallys with great rubber. Original color mist green (appears to have had one repaint in green, then the garnet color). Chrome and glass are decent driver quality but were scuffed by rotary sander in a few places. Rubber/fuzzies should be replaced around side windows and trunk seal.

VIN was verified by Nevada DMV and then etched onto bottom of frame near driver rear wheel (see photo) because plastic VIN plate at windshield base disintegrated in desert sun. VIN was originally placed on frame by factory, directly above this same spot, but on top of frame rail. Good matching OK title in my name and currently tagged and insured by Hagerty.

Engine/trans/differential: later model (TBI) stock 350 with rebuilt Edelbrock 600 on polished manifold, HEI, new wires, rotor etc., stock exhaust manifold into good dual exhaust with resonators, dumps at back bumper. Nice healthy rumble but not obnoxiously loud. Trans is 350 turbo with automatic column shift, shifts fine. Non-posi 10 bolt rear, pretty sure it’s 2:73 ratio, could be 3:08.

Power steering, all manual drum brakes, original AC car with box on the firewall, but no heat or air hooked up. Wipers, horn and dash lights not working. E-brake works. Speedo/odometer work but speedo needle wanders over 50mph and dash mechanism chatters some, was going to fix all these issues with Dakota Digital dash module, bolts right in for around $750. Speedo cable connection at trans has a leak (again) which had stopped after fixing the seal and replacing cable.

Interior: Monte Carlo seats with recent upholstery. Original door panels and dash pad are fair condition but were sprayed black, original interior was green. Carpet looks new. I installed basic Pioneer CD deck and kick panel/package shelf speakers - sounds great (antenna is a boat-type unit hidden behind dash, didn’t want to replace great windshield to fix).

I have way more invested than reserve, NOT counting any of my hours in the garage. Please research a solid, running, driving 2-door ’70 before deciding what it’s worth. My price is very fair and I’m not desperate to sell. I’ll call you if you’re a serious buyer and leave me a number.
