Chevrolet’s highly popular Chevelle hit a styling high watermark in 1967 with refinements to the front grille and taillight panel. The ’67 Chevelle’s svelte new contours and flying buttress roof treatment made it one of the handsomest muscle cars of the era, and its mature good looks have traversed the decades without aging, as proven by this 1967 SS396 coupe. Finished in glowing Granada Gold paint capped with a contrasting Black vinyl roof, it was the subject of a thorough frame-off restoration that included new quarter panels and new trunk and floor pans. Since its completion it has been driven just 1450 miles under the power of its L34 396/400 HP big-block V-8, which uses a Holley 4-barrel, Headmen 1¾ HTC coated stainless steel headers and 2 ½. Super 40 Series custom bent stainless steel exhaust. This example’s Muncie 4-speed manual transmission and 12-bolt 3.73:1 Positraction rear end were joined on the equipment list with power steering and Delco Moraine-boosted power front disc brakes. The 15-inch Rally wheels were a required part of the power brake option; here they are fitted with the Wide Oval Firestone F-70 - 15 Redline tires with ZERO miles on them. Thay were also a part of the Super Sport model specification. Because the Chevelle Super Sport was typically very well equipped, with bucket seats, center console and clock, an AM radio, factory gauges and the “blinker tach,” so named for its mounting location that obscures the left turn signal. Collectors looking for a high degree of attention to detail will find it here in such items as NOS T-3 headlights, original-style Delco battery, MSD Pro tune up kit and Hotchkis sport tuned shocks. Wheels, tires, center caps, beauty ring all have ZERO miles on them. They have never been out of my garage. This car was owned by a serious collector that paid nearly $55,000.00for this Chevelle in 2008. Since then it has been driven only 1200 miles. In this time it has won several Best in Show awards and has placed well in every show its been in. There is one boo boo on this amazingly clean car that has never even had a rain drop on it. There is a picture included, it looks as if the door was opened while on jack stands. There is no damage to the metal only to the paint.
