Description

This is a real Impala SS I've owned for several years, but rarely drive it since we moved into the city last year. It is stored it in a garage 45 minutes from my home, which means it mostly just sits parked. I purchased it from an older gentlemen in Virginia that had owned it since the late 90's. He always stored it in a climate controlled garage. He was good friends with Richard Childress, and had him autograph the ashtray.
The car has had some paint work in the past, but I believe it to be mostly original. The previous owner replaced most of the interior with the correct vinyl, carpet and headliner, with the exception of the door panels, which are original and faded.
Since I've owned, I've down the following work:
New fuel pump, all fluids changed, front end alignment, new belts and hoses, new inner rockers and cross member, minor trunk repair in corners, period correct front seat belts added. I'm sure I've done more, but these are the bigger items.
All of the above was performed by professionals.
The car has the 283 V-8 engine, which the previous owner told me was original to the car. It has the two speed powerglide transmission, which works great.
I have driven this car on quite a few long trips to car shows, including from Richmond to Carlisle, Roanoke and Virginia Beach. It is very reliable and cruises down the highway with ease. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere.
The car is 56 years old and does have a few flaws...
It needs a new glove box, which is included in the sale. I purchased it over a year ago, but I think they built the car around it, as I can not figure out how to install it.The original AM radio makes crackling sounds, but will not play. May just need a speaker. Original door panels are faded. Body and chrome has some chips, scratches and pitting.
The car gets attention whenever I drive it. I entered it in the Richmond AACA Annual car show in 2017, which is the largest show in the area, and it won second place in the 1960 to 1969 class.
If you are in the market for a classic 1960's car that you can drive and enjoy, this may be the car for you. It is available for inspection in the Richmond area, prior to bidding. I have a clear Virginia Title. Serious bidders only please. I'll help meet shippers or drop off at a local terminal near Richmond.
