Without question, the turning point for Corvette came about in the sports car scene when the 2nd generation was introduced in 1963. A revised chassis brought about a 4-wheel independent suspension, and as the years progressed; larger wheels were introduced, larger big block motors, and 4-wheel disc brakes! Amenities like power steering, air conditioning, and leather seats didn’t hurt sales either with more buyers looking for more options and creature comforts! These cars are arguably the most coveted of Corvettes amongst collectors worldwide!

We are delighted to have the opportunity to offer this 1966 Corvette Coupe finished in code-correct Nassau Blue over rare Dark Blue vinyl interior! Abundantly optioned with its original 1966 date-coded 327ci/300 horsepower engine, California smog equipment, Powerglide automatic transmission, factory air conditioning, heavy duty 7-blade cooling fan, power steering, power brakes, 3.36 rear axle, pushbutton AM/FM radio with power antenna, power windows, rare telescoping steering column, hazard flasher, teakwood steering wheel, full spinner wheel covers, front license plate bracket, original 1965 date-coded seatbelts, and carpeted floor mats! It was later fitted with factory style side pipes, radial whitewall tires, and a Quartz electric clock.

History provided with this California example start in Pasadena, CA when purchased by Walter Schroeder in December of 1972 with only 42,000 miles on the odometer. He was an avid car collector, and drove many of his vehicles sparingly during early ownership, then parking as many as 25 cars in his Los Angeles warehouse. This particular car was housed in his personal garage near Fairfax & Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles along with his prized 1959 Cadillac Convertible. This Corvette retains a remarkably straight, no hit body with original drivetrain! Sadly, Mr. Schroeder pasted away in 2003 leaving the Corvette to his daughter, Doris, to restore. Photo documentation supports this black plate California example had sat unused for the better part of 25 years when the car was moved to Bakersfield, CA. She and her husband elected to completely restore the car in frame-off fashion beginning in 2005. It would be completed in 2007 with outstanding results! This task would be handled in large portion by Eye Street Automotive in Bakersfield starting with a total and complete nut & bolt disassembly. The body would be sublet to Ed’s Auto Body, also of Bakersfield, for stripping and painting.

Ed’s Auto Body would hand strip the factory fiberglass, perform only minor body perfections, and seal with PCL primer. After an initial block sanding, it would receive 4 more coats of primer, block sanded again, sealed with 2 coats of urethane sealer, painted with 4-5 coats of urethane Chroma base coat, buried under 4-5 more coats of Chroma Premier clear, then color sanded and buffed! The engine and transmission would be totally overhauled by Eye Street, then reinstalled to a fully refurbished and painted chassis along with all new suspension, total brake system, new fuel delivery system from the tank to fuel pump, and all new cooling system with new water pump & radiator. The body would be re-mated with fresh wiring harnesses, all new interior, and all new weather stripping. It retains all original LOF window glass throughout. This laundry list of new components is far too long to list, but receipts will be included.

It runs and drives excellently and has been carefully maintained by only two owners since restoration. The first of those two owners was from Littleton, CO. He had the complete air conditioning system converted to a modern R134a system in June 2015 with new compressor and engine thermostat. The next St. Louis, MO owner would add the side pipes for a more aggressive sound and Quartz clock to ensure all features were fully functional. Always stored in a proper garage environment all its life, and never driven in inclement weather, it makes for an excellent collection piece! This is an opportune chance to acquire a beautiful, high option Corvette in a very rare color combination! All records and ownership documentation will be provided to the next owner. The mileage today reads just 48,007 miles which is believed to be actual, and loosely documented through original titles and service records.
