Barn find 69 Corvette rare L68 427/400 4speed original survivor cortez silver
Description
Up for auction is my convertible 1969 cortez silver L68 Corvette. Found this car several years ago with the intent of restoring it, until I realized I have too many Corvette projects (4 other Big Block 69's!) This rare L68 needs complete restoration. It was previously in a low speed rear end collision. It will need lots of fiberglass work or panels replaced. The frame has surface rust but is solid, front to back. The rear frame rear cross member is not bent (see photos).Out of 38,762 Corvettes manufactured in 1969 only 2,072 were 427/400 L68 Tri-powers. This car retains its complete, original motor, transmission & all suspension. What makes this an extremely rare find is that even the original distributor, alternator & exhaust manifolds are still on the motor.

Car rolls freely. Original rimsare in good shapeand the dash is crack free (should clean up nicely). Original seats are there (headrest version). Windshield is not cracked. Metal around windshield is solid. I removed the original fuel tank but the tank sticker was lost to the disco era! The convertible top frame structure is missing.Due to the fact you could not order air conditioning on a 435hp/427, many original buyers ordered the 400hp to add the air conditioning option. This L68 is rare among other L68's because it does not have air conditioning, power steering or power brakes. In the pictures it will look like it is in 'primer', but it is the original faded cortez silver paint. The block was sent to a machine shop where it was magnafluxed (no issues found) and bored .020. The block was not decked, so you can see in the pictures the excellent factory stampings. The connecting rods were serviced also. The car is currently in storage, so I was unable to take good photos of the driver's side, however, I guarantee it is in better shape than the passenger side. This is a project car needing full restoration. Sold in 'as-is' condition, so please contact me for any additional information you may need. I feel I need to stress the 'AS-IS' condition based on the fact I recently received my first ever negative feedback in over 10 years of using eBay. A buyer did not notify me they weren't happy with a $17 ignition coil sold with an 'as-is' description. I'm currently trying to resolve this by offering a full refund.A $500 deposit by Paypal within 24 hours of auction close and balance (by cash or wire transfer) due before car is shipped/collected.

On Jan-30-18 at 18:12:03 PST, seller added the following information:Took time to wipe the dash a little today - looks good, so I can send additional pictures if needed (cannot add more pictures to auction listing). Also, original bumpers, flywheel (dated late '68), driveshaft, front marker lights, sun visors & grilles are with the car. There is a 1975 California inspection decal in the front windshield. Some new brake-lines are also included.I can re-install motor & trans into chassis to aid with shipping if needed.
