1946 General Motors Corporation Pick Up Truck
Description
This is a 1946 General Motors Corporation pick up truck that had a wooden flat bed on it. It is very similar to the trucks pictured below except for the wooden flat bed. The cab and chassis are solid with very little rust. There are a few minor dents in the cab that can be easily repaired. The glass is good and the seat is solid with old but nice covering. The wooden flat bed has rotted away over the years so you could either install an aftermarket metal pick up box or restore the wooden flat bed. (I had intended to restore the wooden bed) This truck has the original inline 6 cylinder engine and a 3 speed manual transmission with original floor shifter. The truck has been in inside storage for many years in Houghton Lake, MI The buyer will have to make arrangements to pick it up after payment is received. This is a nice solid restoration candidate that will make a very nice ride once completed.
To try to answer the numerous questions that I have received regarding pictures of the truck, please note that the pictures in the listing are simply generic shots of a 46. They are in no way intended to make anyone think that they are of my truck. My truck has a wooden flat bed rather than the metal pick up box as shown in the pictures in the listing. I don't have pictures of the actual truck since the truck is in dry storage in Houghton Lake, MI and I am in Franklin, TN I have asked the owner of the storage facility to take some pictures for me which I will gladly post once I get them. My truck needs to be totally restored inside and out to make it a show vehicle but it can be fixed up fairly easy to make it a daily driver. The cab is solid without a lot of rust and the interior is decent. The seat is not torn and all of the trim pieces are there. I believe it has an old radio in it but I'm not totally certain. It has the original long shift rod on the floor (3 Speed) The glass is good but may be starting to get cloudy. Again, I'm not certain. The truck will roll if the tires are blown up and it can be loaded on a trailer pretty easily. The original lights are in tact an did work when the truck was parked. The dash is solid, not dented or damaged. All original gauges are there and operable. It has the original wheels and hub caps. The wooden flat bed has rotted away over the years but the frame is solid so a metal pick up box or a new wooden flat bed could be put back on the truck. Hopefully this will answer most questions regarding the truck and it's condition.
