Description

The Chevrolet Nova has been a respected member of the muscle car class since it was first introduced, and as a result it's been a coveted foundation for generations of customization projects. You won't see many that can top this 1966 Chevrolet Nova as far as sheer badass looks are concerned. It's a great blending of classic and modern elements that not only leave this venerable classic with its identity very much intact, but also make for a car that's a blast to drive.
All too often, we see the quest for visual impact result in a ride that's long on flash, but short on finish. Not here. This two-tone navy blue metallic and silver paint is a very strong custom job - nice and even in color, with a great clearcoat sitting on top. That aggressive hood scoop up front shows a lot of craftsmanship as well as it rises gracefully and symmetrically. Plenty of attention has also been spent on the finishing touches, so you'll find the front and rear bumpers sitting level and looking clean, and the front grille and headlight casings very fresh. Unlike many projects this dynamic, this Nova's badging remains intact - a nice touch that reaffirms its proud Chevy lineage - and is well-represented throughout the exterior of the car. When it came time to put the pieces together, it was done with a lot of precision, and you'll see that the body panels fit together well, with even gapping that's resulted in well-aligned doors, hood and deck lid. No doubt that this car makes a strong statement, but it's one that's backed up with a lot of attention to detail.
The black vinyl interior is well-configured, with some nice aftermarket touches added seamlessly, and with no disruption of the largely original conformation. The bench seats in both front and back look impressively fresh, showing no wrinkling or tears. Below the seating sits a new-looking expanse of black carpeting. Direct your gaze forward and you'll see that a JT Grant steering wheel sits in place of the original on a tilt column, while just beyond, a full set of Dakota digital gauges glow blue and look right at home in the instrument cluster. A Pioneer AM/FM/CD player fits perfectly in the place once occupied by the original radio. With no carpeting lining the floor of the trunk area in back, any fitment issues would be readily apparent, but there are none to be found. The battery has been relocated here and sits neatly on a shelf toward the front, with plenty of usable space left over.
This Nova has been configured with a great balance of power and drivability. A fuel- injected LS1 V8 engine resides under the hood and, outfitted with Edelbrock headers and an aftermarket system to supply cold, dense air, it starts right up and is running and sounding great. An amply-sized Anton aluminum radiator sits up front, combined with a pair of electric fans and an overflow tank to keep operating temperatures in check. A great dance partner with the LS1 is the 4L60E automatic transmission which keeps pace and makes this an easy daily cruiser. A Heights front clip w/ tubular A-arms, rack & pinion steering and Wilwood four wheel disc brakes all combine for great handling and stopping power for more spirited driving situations. This very well-configured Chevy classic sits on a set of American Racing wheels - 15" in front that are carrying Mirada Sport GT2 tires, and 16" in back, outfitted with Cooper Zeons.
