Custom Limo Hauler
Description
This truck was built in my shop for my use in hauling my Bonneville race car to Utah in 1990. It was used exclusively as transportation to Bonneville once a year, otherwise was stored inside and professionally cleaned and maintained to fight the corrosives of the salt. The frame and under body was treated with fish oil and other rust inhibitors to ensure the investment was protected. It started with two crew cabs and chassis, the frame were joined and then a double frame was fabricated to support the load. The cabs were dissected and pieced together using a custom 10 gauge.floor and a suburban roof. There was no expense spared to make this truck reliable to carry family/crew to Bonneville without issues. We added dropped spindles and air bag assist to support the weight capacity, a custom interior featuring four captains chairs and bench seat at the rear. We added an overhead console as well as two lower consoles between the captain seats, the rear console houses an additional a/c unit. The interior was custom designed and has stood the test of tim, the captains chairs show signs of wear as should be expected from the amount of use.
The 454 gas engine gave up in 99 and we decided it was time for an upgrade. We installed a 12V Cummin, five speed NV, Centerforce clutch and a Gearvendor over/underdrive.
We used this set up until 2010,when it was retired, we rebuilt the front suspension and repaired all the body and paint issues to keep it looking fresh. The time has come to downsize my collection of cars and I can assure you this truck will not let you down.
It has a 180" wheelbase and 27' Overall length and rides like a Limo. The mileage is 25K since the Cummins was installed. There are numerous custom touches in the bodywork, such as fiberglass rockers, custom rear rolled pan, Eldorado taillights, smooth tailgate, Flush mounted clearance lights and a solenoid operated push bar release under the front license plate.
There is a 3" ball for carrying the 28000 lb load of our trailer and 150 gallon fuel tank to keep the doors closed. Possibly one of the most recognized push trucks at Bonneville since 1990.
