If you've been looking for a rugged, go-anywhere, square-jawed truck with all the goodies, you've just found one of the best. This 1986 Chevrolet K10 4x4 was put through a comprehensive, frame-off restoration, and looks fantastic in basic black paint. With plenty of horsepower, a competent 4WD powertrain underneath, and a comfortable interior full of luxury features, you just can't buy more truck for your dollar than this.30 years later, these trucks STILL look fantastic. Forget aerodynamics for a moment, and take a good look at the angles on this truck, which was designed to work for a living, not sip gas. Always a clean, southern machine, it sports laser-straight body panels and paint that shines up well but is still prepared to repel mud and dirt from playing outside. It doesn't appear to have ever been a work truck, and the short bed/regular cab models often enjoy the best care because they're personal vehicles. All the bright trim remains in place, including wheel arch stainless and side moldings, and even the rubber air dam up front is still in place and not cracked and abused. Up front, the billet grille gives it a smooth look, and the bright chrome bumpers look awesome, particularly the diamond-plate step bumper out back. For durability, a heavy-duty rubber mat protects the paint and the overall condition of the bed floor suggests that this truck never really worked for a living. It's incredibly clean all around. The factory gray cloth bench seat interior remains in place and its current condition tells you all you need to know about the easy life this truck has lived. Aside from some very minor signs of use, the upholstery remains excellent, with no rips or tears, and black carpets make it feel luxurious indeed from behind the wheel. The gauges are original and fully functional, and they're among the most attractive dials ever fitted to a truck; nice job, Chevy! Luxury options include A/C, power windows, power locks, a tilt wheel, cruise control, and power steering and brakes, which are much appreciated with those big tires. There's also a new AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the dash, and it really has the feeling that nothing was overlooked when this truck was freshened.Fuel injection arrived in GM trucks in the form a throttle body setup that looks a lot like a carburetor but gives you easy drivability and quick starts. The engine bay is incredibly clean and detailed, and appears to be almost entirely stock. The 350 cubic inch V8 runs smoothly and actually pulls down decent fuel economy (well, relatively speaking anyway) and you already know how reliable these things are. A 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission is linked to a 2-speed transfer case, which feeds both axles when you're off-roading for maximum traction. Underneath, the chassis is solid and highly original, augmented by a Flowmaster dual exhaust system that probably adds a few horsepower and sounds fantastic. Massive 32x11.5-15 Michelin tires are wrapped around a set of factory Rally wheels for an OEM look that's just a little bit more aggressive. This cool off-roader is ready to hit the trails or the shows where it will perform equally well.
