Description

Advanced Design truck, factory cab & chassis (pickups had full length running boards). Good, clean title matches engine. Truck will need extensive body work. Engine is locked up. The block externally appears OK, i.e. no broken water jacket. No guarantees on the engine. 216 cubic inch engine.
Truck will need all new wiring, the wiring underneath is severely deteriorated from age. The wiring inside has been cut. No ignition switch, no key for door lock.
Actual mileage is unknown, the odometer appears to be broken and the left most digit is not visible (it is shifted to the side in the speedometer housing).
4 speed transmission, shifter works fine to all gears, clutch moves in and out smoothly. Truck rolls freely. Brakes do not work. Frame is in fairly good shape, it has some pitting on the top rail in the back. Front end seems to be tight. Driveshaft has some play in the U joints. Rear axle gears have a little play, seems normal for a used axle in a heavier truck. Axle is a heavy removable carrier axle, similar to a Ford 9" but larger.
Note - the body number tag is missing from the truck. It was removed 2 owners ago for "safe keeping" and lost by the previous owner. This is the number for the body only and is not a VIN or used for titling / registration. Previous to 1955, Chevrolets were titled to the engine number. There are numerous sellers of reproduction body tags online, personally I would have one stamped with the engine number and fasten it to the body.
3800's came standard with a 9' bed.
Truck is available for inspection before auction close. Please contact me with any questions or to arrange an inspection.
If the buyer wishes to transport this with a tow dolly, I can unbolt the rear drive shaft and make sure the rear axle is full of oil.
It appears that nearly every body part are readily available for the Advanced Design trucks, as well as sleeves for the engine, and dual master cylinder conversion kits. Please do your own research.
